The other problem he had on his mind was the Wolf that imagined that she was his girlfriend. Etienne was becoming even more of a problem than Selene and for different and dangerous reasons. He had to keep her sweet however; she was the key to his experiments.

It was a shame that she had been the one to react so well with the drug and not Entwistle, because Entwistle was clingy in a far less volatile manner than Etienne and the lap-dog could at least be controlled, the she-bitch couldn’t.

An idea occurred to him that if he could persuade Etienne that there was reason to be jealous of that bitch Hazel – or Red as she insisted on calling herself – maybe one would cancel the other out? Then he brought himself out of his daydreaming, Etienne was still far too valuable as an experimentation piece and Red would no doubt kill her without a problem, she was far more powerful than Etienne but was she more powerful than his protégé when she was drugged to the gills with his special cocktail of enhancement narcotics on the eve of the Lupine moon at Feralia?

Only time would tell on that one Darius thought and he smiled.

Selene went back to the room where she had left Jessica and was pleased that the ruckus had stopped. The stroppy little cow must have calmed down a bit and it should make it easier to speak with her.

The lessons were not going well though, and Selene knew it. Theory was all well and good, but there was only so much you could teach someone without going into greater depth and detail, and to do that, Jessica would have to be Wolf.

Selene wondered how strict the prophecy was – if it would allow a few days leeway so that the practical aspects of being a Wolf, changing, controlling urges and the like could be taught better. She would have to wait and see on that one.

On the up-side, Darius had promised that she could see her sisters again and so her mood was vastly improved by the time she unlocked the door. Then it came crashing down again as Jessica attacked her with a chair.

Selene didn’t see the blow coming and the chair caught her full in the face and took her off her feet with the force of the impact. Jessica took advantage of Selene’s dazed state and ran.

Jessica had luck on her side as she made her escape. She followed the corridor to the stairs and down through the door to the bar. It was security locked only from the bar to the stairs, not so the other way and it opened.

The back door to the bar was open because there was a delivery being made and Jessica snuck past Riley and the delivery guy and was then on the backstreets of the town where she had grown up and she knew exactly where she was. Then because she had no idea what to do next, she headed for home.

Jessica quickly realised that she would be found if she stayed at the place that they expected her to run to and so once she had found the spare key which was hidden in the shed, she grabbed a few things from her room and went to her friend Ellie’s house, a few streets away.

Ellie was surprised to see her but she let her into the house.

“Where have you been for the last few weeks?” Ellie seemed quite frantic when she answered her front door and she dragged Jessica inside.

“I’ve been at a friend’s.”

“I thought you’d been out of the country! Haven’t you seen the news and stuff? Your Syl’s been missing for a few months, they can’t find her and they’re hunting for her everywhere. Oh my god it’s a complete disaster, your whole family...” Ellie couldn’t find the appropriate words.

“The family that I cut myself off from? That family?” Jessica’s voice was filled with resentment and almost hatred.

Ellie looked at her friend and realised that she really didn’t know. “Jess, they’re all dead. They were burnt in a horrible fire.”

Then Ellie busied herself by making Jess a cup of tea but she was ready for when the realisation hit and she broke down in tears.

“They were all I had left. Did you say Syl wasn’t there?”

“That’s right; it was just the three sets of twins and their mum, your Aunt Stella.”

Congratulation for your novel has published. I hope someday i can read in my language (indonesian).

Thank you. I hope so too :)

So Lord Grey,(Darius), likes drugging wolves, that guy will stoop to all new lows to control people, at least he is going to be pretty pissed that his prime experiment got away. I feel sorry for Selene, she is going to go absolute bonkers on Darius when she learns the truth.

He's the best bad-guy I've ever written, I think :)
