A second group of performance tools are provided to the left of the Helm Kayboard. We will look at these today.

Connect a MIDI keyboard to Helm and you have a great software synth for performing. Helm gives us some tools to help us get the most out of performing. We will have a look at Voices, Pitch Bend and Velocity Tracking.

In the early days of analogue synthesis most synths could only produce one note at a time - Monophonic. As time went on synths have been able to play more than one voice at a time. Helm lets us choose and you can do this with the Voices selector.

Pitch bend allows us to choose the range of semitones our keyboard's pitch bend wheel can move through in its entire range. This can be useful if you do not want a wide sweep on your pitch bend wheel.

Velocity Tracking allows us to choose how sensitive Helm will respond to loud and soft playing. Pretty simple, but VERY useful.
