Another big day for Steem.
The STEEM price continued to climb - peaking at just over US$0.39. SBD was heading back toward dollar parity.
STEEM reached the heady height of #40 at one point on CoinMarketCap.com.
The Steemit Inc powerdown went ahead as planned.
Debate continued and so did the Powerdown
Following on from the launch of the StopThePowerDown Community Petition by @thecryptodrive Saturday saw much continued debate from all quarters.
StopThePowerDown was the topic of the day in posts, in comments, on radio shows and in the temporary Steem Reform Discord server set up alongside the Petition.
Steemit Inc CEO Ned Scott even made a brief appearance in the Steem Reform Discord.
Meanwhile the price of STEEM continued its recent upward trend reaching $0.39, with an accompanying climb to a #40 ranking on CoinMarketCap.com.
There were no further statements or open letters from any top 20 witnesses, although @jesta who had just dropped out to #21, posted a detailed account of recent events...
The powerdown went ahead as planned and the first installment of around 2.6 million STEEM appeared in Steemit Inc's @steemit wallet at approximately 3am UTC.
This liquid STEEM was then sent to the Bittrex exchange, some via a secondary @backup-bittrex account.
Following the transfer of the STEEM Steemit Inc cancelled the powerdown.
A new powerdown of 42118188.068 SP was then started. This now included the delegations withdrawn last week from @dsound, @musing and @sndbox.
Peace at last...
Meanwhile @ned and the witnesses continued discussions.
Three hours after the powerdown and Bittrex transfer @thecryptodrive updated the Community Petition...
Latest update: @ned and the witnesses present in the Steemdevs Slack seem to have made peace. We asked if we could set aside our differences and work together to make Steem great and Ned said “Yes, I will”.I further suggested we all take a breather, have some cold ones and enjoy the rest of our Sundays.
Hopefully the funds that were sent to Bittrex 3 hours earlier will be returned to chain and future power downs stopped.
Price update...
Since these events took place the price of STEEM has been falling.
At the time of writing (20 Jan '19, 1.23pm UTC) STEEM stands at US$ 0.358, with a drop in the CoinMarketCap.com ranking to #43.

Steem price went down. Cause and effect though is anyone's guess in the crypto world.
This sounds to me like the powerdown was stopped in order to power down EVEN MORE. How exactly did this bring peace? :D
Or did this all happen before the peace talks and the hope is that the NEW BIG powerdown will now also be stopped? I'm confused...
Peace at last is the title of the next part of the story...
I know ;) It just looked funny to read it in that order :)
But my question still remains - does "peace" mean Ned will reverse the huge new power down? Because otherwise it's worse than before, no?

I don't know if this is correlated to teach other.
When @ned is poweringdown, the price of steem is increasing as seen seen in the transferring of the said fund to an exchange.
Does it mean that when sp of steemit will be transferred to bittrex it does increase the steem market cap and does has a positive uptrend to the price of steem?
I don't think Steemit Inc will want to leave that much on Bittrex for long. I'd guess that they wouldn't want to sell much at this low price, so they might be trying to move it into accounts that aren't as visible?
Strange how the price has gone up when all this is going on but maybe some whales know more than most of us do?
I think is the high time to focus on this.. amazing
