Where the value of a network is equal to the number of users and possible interactions, any split in that network will result in two new networks that combined will have less value.

This is why forks are generally a very bad idea!

I think something people are ignoring, or not taking into account is, if Ned is selling, then someone is buying, the amount of steem does not really decrease, does it not just change hands or does it somehow magically vaporize as soon as Ned sells it?

I think that what may have a few people upset is the dilution factor of that large a steak. Instead of it being controlled by a small group, now it may be controlled by hundreds of people and groups as it is slowly sold off and purchased. Unless of course it does in fact just vaporize the instant he sells it.

Yeah the more Ned sells now the better! It does not vaporize! It goes into stronger hands than Ned! 💪

it makes a lot of sense.
This law is well known in all the network evaluetion, changing the rules of the networs too often ain't a good idea

Unless you can get the vast majority to pick a side.

People are calling ned an "unaccountable actor" but every month that goes by that he sells off more stake; he becomes more accountable.

Thank you so much for participating the Partiko Delegation Plan Round 1! We really appreciate your support! As part of the delegation benefits, we just gave you a 3.00% upvote! Together, let’s change the world!

Even worst when you consider a fork that is do to trying to eliminate existing tokens previously mined! Unprescedented in blockchain as would cause a loss in reputation and value of the combination for sure!

The question is will the new chain perform better once the dead weight is removed?

A new chain can just airdrop tokens to existing token holders that sign up to the new chain.

As @smooth has mentioned, there is no "removal" of anyone's account or tokens as the old chain will continue to exist
