🇺🇸 ROAD TRIP 2017 🇺🇸 - ROUTE 66 (14) Moss Landing, CA -> San Francisco (day 11 on the road)

Dear Steemians,

let me whisk you away to the great American dream of Road 66. Tranferring a brand new camping car from Middlebury,IL to the west coast, a friend and I drove Will Rogers Highway, better known as Route 66 or simply Motherroad, from march 13th to 25th, all in all some 3360 miles (5900 kilometers)(including all our detours like Las Vegas, Grand Canyon etc). Only 11 full days on the road (we parted only in the late afternoon of march 13th and returned our rental rv in the morning of the 25th) - a little bit unrealistic as an friendly Uber driver in Flagstaff, AZ found.

lasst Euch entführen zu dem großen Amerikanischen Traum der Route 66. Um ein brandneues Wohnmobil von Middelbury, Illinois zu Westküste zu überführen, nahmen eine Freund und ich den Will Rogers Highway, besser bekannt als Route 66 oder einfach Mutterstrasse, in der Zeit vom 13. bis 25. März unter die Räder. Alles in Allem fuhren wir zirka 5900 Kilometer (3360 Meilen)(inklusive alle unsere Umwege, wie Las Vegas, Grand Canyon usw). Nur elf volle Tage auf der Straße (wir konnten erst am Nachmittag des 13. März abfahren und gaben das Wohnmobil am Vormittag des 25. März wieder ab - ein wenig unrealistisch, wie ein netter Uber-Fahrer in Flagstaff, Arizona meinte.

We left Moss Landing in the early morning under overcast skies, heading south to Monterey. Initially we wanted to stay in Monterey the night before, but they had no rv-park there, the nearest was Moss Landing. This was no problem, for here we found that fantastic fish market with eatery, shown in my previous post.
A few miles farther, we arrived at Monterey, where we found a touristic Old Fishermans wharf:

Wir verliessen Moss Landing am frühen Morgen unter einem wolkenverhangenen Himmel in Richtung Süden nach Monterey. Eigentlich sollten wir die vorhergehende Nacht in Monterey übernachten, aber dort gibt es keinen Stellplatz, so dass wir bis Moss Landing weiterfahren mussten. Das war aber kein Problem, denn hier fanden wir diesen wunderbaren Fischmarkt mit Restaurant, den ich in meinem vorherigen Post vorgestellt hatte.
Nach ein paar Meilen waren wir in Monterey, wo wir ein touristisches "Old Fishersman's Wharf" fanden:

They had a lot at Old Fisherman's Wharf, but no breakfast that could have enjoyed us. A genuine Munich lady, operating a souvenir shop here, who lives since 25 years in the United States, helped us out with a great hint. She showed us a small yellow building on the next pier and there we found an excellent breakfast. Again, we were lucky that it was not peak season, for the place was small with only a few tables inside and another few outside, of latter we got the last vacant. And lucky we: combined with the prospect of a nice breakfast, the clouds scattered allowing the sun to show.

Hier im "Old Fisherman's Wharf" gab es einiges, aber kein Frühstück an dem wir Gefallen gefunden hätten. Eine echte Münchenerin, welche dort einen Souvenirläden betreibt und schon seit 25 Jahren in den USA lebt, konnte uns aber mit einem guten Tipp weiterhelfen. Sie zeigte uns ein kleines gelbes Gebäude auf dem nächstgelegenen Pier und hier bekamen wir ein exzellentes Frühstück. Wieder einmal hatten wir Glück, nicht in der Hauptsaison hier zu sein, denn die Örtlichkeit war klein und es hatte nur wenige Tische innen und noch weniger draussen. Von letzteren konnten wir den letzten erhaschen. Und wir Glücklichen: mit er Aussicht auf ein schönes Frühstück riss auch die Wolkendecke auf und die Sonne konnte sich zeigen.

After that, we left Monterey heading north again, intending to reach San Francisco in the afternoon. This time, we drove along that wonderful Pacific coast:

Anschließend verliessen wir Monterey wieder in Richtung Norden, um San Francisco voraussichtlich am Nachmittag zu erreichen. Diesmal fuhren wir wieder an der wundervollen Pazifikküste entlang:

In the afternoon we arrived at the San Francisco RV Resort. They asked 214$ for two nights, but just look at this beautiful location. All these pics are taken from the RV-Park:

Am Nachmittag kamen wir dann am San Francisco RV Resort Stellplatz an. Sie nahmen dort 214$ für zwei Nächte, aber schaut euch nur diese Location an. Alle Bilder sind vom Stellplatz aufgenommen:
