If homosexuality really were a disease and was removed with a vaccine, would homosexuals take it?
Source: Clipart Library
Initially, it was not easy to publish this post, possibly out of fear that it would be controversial and that there would not be the necessary tolerance. It's just that talking about this subject is delicate, since always, in all stages of history has been like this. It has even punishable by prison (and even the death penalty) not many years ago, and still has. However, kind reader, have a little patience and tolerance with regard to the subject and I invite you to continue reading.
Not long ago, there was a comment that was sent to me about a doctor who claimed to have a cure for homosexuality, which claimed that it was a worm inside the man (and woman?) who craved to feed on semen (on the woman's side she didn't put much emphasis). How about that?
Well, I'm a person who doesn't rule out any theory no matter how strange, but that left me blank. A worm? (At the end of the post I will include the video of the doctor)
But more than whether or not it's a worm, it's the very idea of a vaccine that caught my attention. That's why I decided to make a post to find out your opinions about whether homosexuality is a disease and if it were removed with a vaccine, would homosexuals accept it? What would the LGBT community say about that?
The LGBT movement is a social and political movement that fights against discrimination and homophobia, and in favor of the equalization and recognition of the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and transgender people. In recent years, the movement has also included other groups related to sexuality, such as intersex, queer, bears, polyamorous people, among other groups.
But first let's talk a little about the concept of Homosexuality, and other things to understand things from my point of view.
Homosexuality (from Latin homo, 'equal', and sexus, 'sex') is a romantic attraction, sexual attraction, or sexual behavior between members of the same sex or gender.
Seen from the logical point of view, homosexuality can be called unnatural? It is correct that there are only two well-defined sexes: man and woman. When a baby is born, it is impossible for the midwife or the doctor to say: Congratulations! Your baby is clearly gay or lesbian! No. Obviously, it's not like that, they'll probably say it's a boy or it's a girl, right? Normally we believe that sex has only one meaning, which is reproductive. Although for humans this is not entirely true. But if we look at nature, there are many species (over 400 species) that present a homosexual sexual tendency. I wonder, are all these species sick too?
Homosexuality is not something new and neither does it have its origin as a consequence of overpopulation, perhaps as some conspiracy theories indicate (I will speak more about this later), nor by some drug-induced by governments to control population growth. The truth is that homosexuality has existed for thousands of years (perhaps millions?) and not just in one part of the world. It does not depend on race, creed, religion, social condition, latitudes, and longitudes.
What varies is the attitude of societies towards groups or individuals with this sexual tendency. Unfortunately, there are still many places in the world where it is punished with jail and even death. Not to mention what the church did in the past with regard to punishments for homosexuals (even burning them at the stake).
The church that with its imposition of celibacy has created an environment more conducive to other practices that I prefer to omit in this post. In my opinion, priests should be able to marry or have a partner.
As I mentioned earlier, homosexuality has been present throughout life. Ancient Greece and Rome, civilizations that have had a great influence on our society, on many levels and aspects, until today, were natural in this practice. For the Greeks, same-sex relationships were normal, almost institutional. Also in the Far East, in ancient China and Japan, there is evidence of homosexual tendencies in history. Indigenous races, in many parts of the world, including pre-Columbian civilizations, such as the Aztec, Mayan, etc.
In reality, the word "homosexuality" appears in the middle of the 19th century. So previously there was no concept to define it. In 1952 it was included as a mental disorder by the American Psychiatric Association, which later, thanks to other studies by doctors and psychologists, was able to disprove these facts and by 1973, it was discarded as a mental disorder.
There are theories that indicate that homosexuality originates in gestation, because of the hormonal changes that the mother suffers. There are some theories that indicate that the ingestion of birth control pills generated a proliferation of homosexuality from its invention.
So this could show that homosexuality is born in gestation. However, there is also the possibility that certain non-genetic external factors may change an individual's sexual tendency in early life or childhood.
A friend, whom I admire a lot, she told me about the mouse utopia experiment. And this is where a conspiracy theory of the origin of homosexuality as a consequence of overpopulation appears. Let's talk a little about this experiment.
In 1972, scientist John B. Calhoun conducted an experiment where he took a set of mice and placed them in a place to live with everything they might need for the population to grow. With endless food, water, nesting material and no threats of any kind. This allowed them to reproduce without limits. A utopian paradise that finally became a hell. This experiment had terrible but interesting results: their behavior due to the created overpopulation, made them stop being mice (behaviors from homosexual tendencies to cannibalism) long before they ended in death. This is an experiment that I didn't know about and from which many conclusions and theories of the results obtained can be written.
You can know more about it at:
But to stay on topic, it means that the proliferation of homosexuality currently shows an excessive increase in the population?
Will the end of the world be near?
Nah! Not at all...
As I said earlier, homosexuality existed before Christ (thousands of years before); so I don't think it represents an evolutionary disadvantage or the extinction of the human species.
For many scientists and psychologists, accepting homosexuality into society does not make it spread, but rather achieves better tolerance and harmonious coexistence among communities. For others, more optimistic, the behaviors of love and cooperation play a very important role in our evolution as a society.
Now with this less conflictive feeling about homosexuality, we can return to my main question, which started this post.
Imagine a future in which a "vaccine" has been created (we are going to put it in quotation marks) that does not affect the human organism, nor its metabolism, nor causes cancer, nor any other type of secondary effect other than to eliminate homosexuality. Would homosexual people, both men, and women, be willing to take it?
What would the LGBT community say? I'm sure they would be outraged by that, creating a worldwide commotion.
Knowing all that I have mentioned so far, I think that those people who are marginalized or excluded by societies and customs (both religious, political, and social) of the environment that surrounds them, obviously would be tempted to take them in order to be accepted by a society unable to tolerant or that punishes with prison or death penalty this sexual tendency.
The most certain thing is that the less tolerant governments of some countries would force homosexuals to take it. Gay communities would then have to emigrate to other places where they would be accepted. Quite a social impact. There would be a new division of society, more evident now.
In case the vaccine is preventative. As a parent (being a mother or a father), would you administer the vaccine to your children to prevent them from becoming homosexuals when they become adults? Surely not only for your own convictions and customs you would do so, but also to prevent our children from being part of a society that would be even more repudiated.
Would intolerance and discrimination increase? Possibly yes. The most orthodox religions: Christian, Jewish, and Islamic would force their parishioners to get vaccinated. For them, it would be a reasonable position, based on their beliefs imparted in their sacred texts and then backed by science that would classify homosexuality as an anomaly that can be combated and "repaired". Increasing hatred towards those who do not wish to be repaired.
Quite a dilemma, isn't it?
Possibly those more drastic ones who like to create conspiracy theories would ask me: What would make you think that the government would not use this vaccine to eradicate homosexuality? I would also answer, is it not in the government's interest to use homosexuality as a natural control of the population?

It is a very controversial topic, but nevertheless my views expressed possibly cause some damage, I do not agree with homosexuality (the change of sex, sexual confusion, same-sex marriage) but even so I have friends who are in this condition, every day I try to focus on how God loves us, he rejects sin but he deeply loves the sinner.
It is controversial. But I wanted to know from your point of view what would happen if there was this type of vaccine? What would happen to the gay community? Would it increase homophobia? Would religions force parents to vaccinate their children? The important thing for me is to make known a peaceful solution to this dilemma. We could be very close to that happening.
Thanks for taking the time to read and commenting
Dear @EriksonGutierrez,
Thank You for sharing Your view on the topic in the most simple and truthful way.We might not share the same faith but our God is the same, and I totally agree with Your view! I'll make You words, mine also (sorry for stealing =P)All the best, have a great dayCy
I would say to me it is obvious that homosexuality isn't a disease and therefore can't be cured, but it is scary there is someone making this claim right now, and being taken seriously as well. I am glad you decided to address this, and challenge the assumption instead of ignoring it.
The level of division this would create would be incredible. i think yeah, it would be compulsory in some countries, particularly ones with a national religion. The weapon it would be for the hate mongering of some evangelical churches would be phenomenal, given how they actively encourage the discrimination, incarceration and psychical punishment of gay people in other countries already... alright then... a less cynical prediction this time haha
So i think, if they found an injection that suppressed same sex attraction, a lot of things would happen.
I believe this would be rolled out on a voluntary basis to begin with. There would be a huge amount of division, as people felt like they had to chose sides, but were scared to say anything - rather like you have in your comments haha, and as a result it would slide past a tipping point of hate on both sides before most people got involved.
I suspect there would be riots, and protests outside clinics/facilities that offer the injection, from both sides. The 'don't take the shot' side of the protest would try and convince people not to take it, whilst the 'take the shot' side would try and get between the two. Rather like some of the show downs outside abortion clinics in the US, it would get very heated. I suspect, given the nature of the issue, and how marginalized parts of the gay community already feel, this would lead to extremism, and we would see physical acts of terrorism on both sides.
As that aspect escalated, it would allow one side to demonize the other, and the general climate of the country would determine which way that went. More religious countries would be more likely to paint the 'don't take the shot if you don't want to' side as the bad guys, and the 'take the shot' as the hero's trying to stop them, but i have to believe it would be the other way around in some places.
once we were at the extremism point, we would probably already being seeing forced injections, probably in religious areas. Those who wanted the injection given to everyone, would claim an association between peoples sexual orientation and the lengths they have gone to defend their freedom (violence, protests, etc), and use that to further smear all gay people. They would take the worst behavior of a single defender of not taking the injection, and apply it to all gay people, they would use it as leverage to allow for discrimination.
I suspect certain private schools would require a child to be 'vaccinated' to go there, and the fear mongering around the protests and objections would lead to more parents considering injecting their own children - for their own safety of course. I feel like phrases like 'gays are violent don't you know', and 'they are sick, they just need help' would become prevalent.
Some charities would only grant overseas funding if the vaccine was made compulsory and private organisations would be able to easily use it to discriminate on the grounds of safety. In certain areas, it would surely lead to an increase in homophobia, which would in turn lead to an increase in people both wanting to take it for the wrong reason, and people being forced to take it. I think a surprising amount of people could end up taking it.
I suspect as it became more harsh in some places, it would soften as a reaction in others. As people in one country saw violence increase, people resisting the 'vaccine' until the last minute, and the real life horror stories surfaced, it would lead to other countries/places going the opposite way. In countries where it was maybe adopted but not enforced, I suspect the amount of people who flee as refugees due to persecution would massively increase, combined with those fleeing to avoid being forced to take the injection, and those moving to live in a 'cured' zone, it would lead to a decent amount of global relocation. As things progressed, what remained of the LBQT+ community would fracture, those wanted to continue to live as normal people, and those who's hate had twisted so badly. There is already A LOT of really vicious cishet hate in the gay communities. These people who already passionately hate straight people may splinter off, and form a society of their own but i suspect the sheer hate they already carry would be more likely to lead to terrorism. Just as I suspect the hate on the 'take the shot' side would likely lead to extreme acts of violence against individuals.
in the short term here, i feel like the hate on both sides would get to levels that supersede anything we have seen in history. However, i feel like the long term result would be mixed. Not all children would be vaccinated, and out of those those who weren't, some of them would experience their natural attraction. I suspect, given that their parents chose not to vaccinate, those children who did not get the shot and came out as gay, would be celebrated by their families - and the communities their families had chosen. Once we reached the point of 'next generation' homosexuals , the scales would tip. The children who had had it forced on them would feel like they had something taken away from them, there could possibly be a rise in asexuality in those children as they felt it had been taken away from them. I think rather like any historical persecution has given way to a much wider acceptance in the very long run, the next generation would celebrate those who stayed true to themselves, and those who had been forced to take it as babies would be the ones who outlawed forcing it on other babies.
I don't know if it is too hopefully to think that such horror would change us. I can't see how that wouldn't lead to horror, but that is not to say that horror wouldn't lead to a massive social change at a later point. The historical playbook i would base speculation on, would be the conflict in northern Ireland, which is now leading to a generation of young people who want nothing more than to accept each other as they are, for who they are, regardless of their beliefs or practices. Hate begets hate, which begets hate, which in the end, begets a hatred of hate. Its the repeat or repel cycle of abuse, eventually the chain snaps, and it snaps hard the other way. I hope.
Update: Then again, I like to think that maybe, just maybe, people would be better than they have been in the past, and it wouldn't be forced on anyone, nor would it be given out easily. I like to think, if they did find something that would make people not homosexual, that taking it wouldn't be something people did lightly. That if someone went to a doctor and asked for it, they would get counselling, and have to undergo a wait period, rather like how in the UK the first step in a sex change is normally two years of counselling preparing for the change, and making sure it is what a person wants. Maybe, just maybe, it would go like that, and the 'vaccine' would be given sparingly, and only to those it would really help. Jeez, given how there are some people who are 'reformed' homosexuals in the church, and repeatedly 'relapse', i can see there being a group of people who desperately, desperately don't want to be attracted to the same sex, but can't fight it. Maybe, maybe just maybe, it would be something good for them, and not forced on anyone, or given to anyone who may not be 100% about wanting it.
Impressive comment @calluna
Woo brother @jadams2k18, this is a great topic of conversation, plus a well-researched article, Congratulations!
First I want to share my opinion about homosexuality. My belief in this is that homosexuality is a sexual preference of people, whether it is correct or not, it is a matter of another discussion. Therefore I am one of those who think that this sexual inclination is not something pathological and will not be eradicated with a vaccine.
The fact of being a sexual preference (in my opinion) would lead to people who have this tendency to reject that vaccine posed by the doctor you mention, because human beings are free to decide what we do, what we want and we have the tendency to reject control.
From the biblical point of view (I hope not to be sensed by this) God Himself respects the free decision of man, what scholars call the free abbey, that is, each person is free to do with his life what he likes best, logically respecting the neighbor and assuming the consequences of their actions.
Very good article, very well worked, good presentation. You are a master brother!
Pr EV
I'm glad you commented and I'm glad to know that from the biblical point of view, God does not impose a specific way of living and that our free will is the one that determines our destiny.
Thank you so much for your kind words, my friend.
Thanks for coming
First of all, the word "cure" for something that isn't a disease is unintelligent. I want to clear this up even though I know @jadams2k18 probably understands this, but it might not occur to other people.
Second, the question itself is as pertinent as asking "if there was a cure for boys whose favourite color isn't blue..." If they like blue, yellow, pink, green, gray or whatever, it doesn't matter. It's just one detail from who they are as a whole.
The origin behind homophobia is the same as racism: ignorant and selfish elitism. "There should only be those who are like me." The whole existence of this discussion points to how imbecile humanity in general really is.
Last but not least, I've read that whenever a family has too many sons or daughters, the younger ones have a homosexual tendency. This theory fits well as a species defensive mechanism against overpopulation, but sort of efficient over an incredibly long period time instead of sudden bursts of reaction.
Your answer is very interesting and you may also be right that nature finds its way to control the population. Obviously, in a man-controlled environment, everything became a disaster and we could see them with the mouse experiment.
But I wanted to know what effect a vaccine that would remove their sexual orientation would have on the gay community. Would they take it willingly? Or would they fight for their rights? Would governments force them? And religion?
And who knows, with the advances of science and genetics we may be one step away from this to happen.
It's always good to be prepared for any situation. Our imagination can show us solutions long before problems happen.
Thanks for commenting
No, yes, yes and yes. Being a homo is part of them. Would you willingly take a drug that made you not be jadams, or at least be less jadams? You deserve the choice. You would fight for being able to choose. Russia and Korea already take away that choice without the need of cures. A lot of religious groups and individuals would certainly resort to force, simply because they can hide behind their faith to "justify" their actions.
It's a great post! :)
That's right! My friend! Governments and religious sects would force people to take the vaccine.
I would never take a drug that would make me stop being who I am. I would only take it if it somehow harmed others around me. And yet I would also think twice before making a decision.
I didn't know about that
Thanks again. I'm glad you showed me your point of view
I do not consider homosexuality a disease, I really believe that there is a wrong soul in that body. I mean, a feminine soul is installed in a male body or vice versa, that is why they feel their bodies as strangers to their needs. I do not think a vaccine is the solution.
@jadams2k18
You're right, a vaccine is not the solution. Understanding and tolerance is better. But I wanted to know what effect a vaccine that would remove their sexual orientation would have on the gay community. Would they take it willingly? Or would they fight for their rights? Would governments force them? And religion?
Thanks for coming by
I hope homosexuality keep existing (and maybe increasing) to show us how sick is a society that can not accept differences. We are in 2019 and we still didn't learn this simple lesson... different is not bad or good. There's no freedom without accepting differences.
That's right, my friend. But if you look at it from the point of view that I wanted to show. Apparently I didn't make it. The effect of this vaccine would be disastrous worldwide on the gay community, it would no longer be an option (or decision) to want or not take the vaccine. It would be an obligation on the part of many intolerant governments (and there are many) and obviously on the part of religion. It is that science would give them the basis to base their reasons for wanting to extinguish the gay community, now that in that alternative reality there is a vaccine of that type.
What would you think?
Wowww!!! This is a very complex and controversial issue. I am heterosexual and although I have occasional contact with members of the LGBT community, I do not consider myself homophobic.
As you describe in your post, homosexuality has existed for thousands of years and in certain cultures throughout history, it has been considered normal, and this behavior has even been promoted, regardless of what its origins may be: genetic factors or factors external (environmental, social, etc.)
As for your question, I reply that no one can be forced to "heal" against his/her will, and any government, society or religion that intends to do so will have many problems.
Regards
Excellent comment. I'm sure you'd be one of those who support the gay right not to take that kind of drug. So would I.

I am also of the opinion that priests can marry and have a partner and children. Perhaps the rape of children would not happen. I believe that this excessive increase in homosexuality is also a reason that many women work and have less time. Also, you often see groups of young men and men and on the other hand groups of young women and women. I think that the male side usually has only friends and the female side usually has only girlfriends. There are, I think, big barriers between the sexes and often is when this barrier is overcome and a harmony has been found that is limited to the sexual relationship. I fear that if the vaccine came, many would be under strong pressure. And I think this might be injected arbitrarily without asking. And even asking is a strong harassment. We do not need a vaccine for homosexuality. We need tolerance and love for my next human being as he is.
I'm glad to hear that.
I suppose it was a Church policy for the children and wives of priests to stop receiving the parts that were theirs when priests died. To have to divide the profits with the priest's relatives was not welcomed by the institution. So the best way was to prevent them from getting married and to impose a chastity policy in the interests of the church for better service to God. That's my theory.
Sounds a little macho, but I think you're right. Shhh... don't say it too loud, the feminists might crush us.
That's great! We need love and understanding man!
Hi @jadams2k18
Personally I consider that homosexuality is not a disease, but as a fad, I currently consider it that way since in recent years the number of these people has increased, of course, with their mentality and how they feel about the decision they took If this were an illness hopefully and with this worm many are healed, because honestly I can not stand people like that, of course one should respect what others decide because they are their lives, but if one was born a man or a woman you have to accept yourself It is, I do not understand why these people want to change already after they are older, because the changes of people older than 14 years, I think, are usually in the middle of the development stage. If they thought with more age there might not be as much tendency of homosexuals but good, everyone with theirs.
I used Google Translator
Interesting answer. Do you speak Spanish?
I respect your opinion. But you have to be on their skin to know what they're going through and to understand their world.
The subject is complicated and delicate. However, the idea of the post was to know what you think the effect of this "vaccine" would be on a social, political, religious level.
Thanks for commenting
Hello everyone here on steemit! And hi to my fellow publish0x writer @jadams2k18. Being a homosexual is not a disease! It is a state of mind being preconditioned to their own self. Or should I say, our own self.
I am not gonna dip into its controversy and bang everyone being a keyboard warrior but would just like to say that we NEED to RESPECT everyone around us and we need to act respectable in everyone's eyes in return to gain the respect that I was talking about.
Cheers! See you around then!
Hello @fycee.
Respect is very important for coexistence in society. In fact, the idea of the post, perhaps a little confused, is that I wanted to know what would happen in the world with the appearance of this "vaccine". What would happen with society and the gay community? How catastrophic it would be for the intolerance and incomprehension towards this community in many parts of the world.
Thanks for passing by
