USD values are calculated per day via API feeds from Poloniex (for STEEM and SBD values in BTC) and Coindesk (for USD value of BTC). For the top 50 reports in USD terms, I take the average USD value for STEEM and SBD for the week using the daily average which came out to:

  • STEEM: $1.33801
  • SBD: $0.95139

Previous Report:

  • STEEM: $1.26296
  • SBD: $0.99672

Assumptions

Please see the first report for a detailed explanation of my personal assumptions related to what this data could mean (along with commentary on previous reports). What it does not show is people powering up, powering down, or if they are buying or selling on an exchange. It's just some interesting data dealing with transfers to and from exchange accounts.

Commentary

  • The withdrawal to deposit ratio is climbing again at 6.71 with 2517 accounts cashing out and only 375 depositing. Maybe people are selling to get BTC for the upcoming BCC/BCH fork?

  • Over a million dollars going out this week to exchanges.

  • The powerdown amounts for next week look good at -16.08%.

I went back and read the first report today. Learnt that it takes quite a bit of effort, using Piston tool (don't know anything about that but am going to read up) to pull this analysis together. Great effort.

After reading your last report, I had been able to derive a conclusion that taking SBD out vs buying and putting SBD in on Steemit affected the overall Steem price if these operations are skewed in one direction or the other. Reading your first article in this series gave a better understanding of this.

I also read a few of the older reports randomly to try and see if I could derive a correlation between Steem price and the data of withdrawals. Have not been able to do any comprehensive analysis yet but hope to do it sometime this week. Was horrified to see that Steem price was down to 0.08 sometimes and we (newcomers) whine now if it goes to 1.2.

Thanks for these informative blogs. Wish you a great day.

I was buying Steem above $1 a year ago (even above $3) and watched it go to $4. Then I watched it crash all the way down to $0.10. For months, posts around here didn't make much at all.

Yeah, the new members do seem to complain a bit too much from the perspective of us "old-timers" but that's to be expected. :)

Useful information for us.i love steemit.i am new on here.i am following you.please upvote me bro

Thank you, you have shared here according to me your post is very interesting and memorable thank you, hope you always succeed and always can make post interesting and nice seturus

Great info! Thanks for this. Regarding the dollar amounts (withdrawals and deposits) are they US$?

Yes, US$ based on averages I pull from API feeds (see the first paragraph).

Wow. I guess I'm having trouble coming to grips with someone trading that much. I'm totally new to cryptocurrency and steemit, so perhaps there is something I'm missing. But wouldn't these sorts of levels lead to wild market swings in the price? Or is market cap so high (i've got no idea what it is or how to find out) that this is just a blip?

Welcome to the jungle. :)

This report just shows funds that were sent to an exchange, not what was actually bought and sold on that exchange. But yes, a high marketcap does lower volatility. If you're curious, you can look through previous reports and find your own correlations between price and withdrawal amounts and such. Mostly altcoins go up and down based on bitcoin though.

Thanks for this important information.

Great content and thanks for the share ,i also resteem and followed for your updates thanks again

Upvoted and also resteemed :]

Thanks a lot for doing this, I really appreciate it. It's always good to have some numbers to track and pay attention to weekly.

I'm new to the platform and have enjoyed going back through your content, I think you're pretty much an awesome example of what an ideal Steemit particpant looks like.

You have my witness vote, looking forward to see your future posts.

Interesting report and commentary. Do you think investors will sell BCH after fork and return assets to STEEM?
