Steem Witness Minnow Project

I started the minnow witness project to support new and upcoming witnesses on Steemit. By voting for me as a proxy voter, you can support the project where I will go through the witness list on your behalf regularly to support new witnesses that do a good job*.

* following the community recommended settings as well as keeping an up to date node. See my updated table of recommended settings below.

Recommended settings from the Community

Running a witness requires being up to date with a few things. Making sure the node is updated and keeping an ear out for whatever is happening in the community, such as new recommended settings for nodes. Mainly these things are discussed in the various chats but also posted by many witnesses on Steemit in the #witness-category section. Every witness makes their own decisions, but there are a few recommendations from developers.

This list is my recommendations that I follow when deciding what witnesses should receive a vote.

* Bias and Interest settings currently does not affect my decision.
** This is the fee the registering account has to pay for making new accounts. New accounts get x30 the amount in delegated SP.

Changes for Beginning of October

As a Proxy voter I go through the list of witnesses, and every 2-4 weeks, when I change my votes, I present the result as a Steemit post.

Current Witness Analyzation

The following is my personal analyze of the current witness list. Data is based on SteemD, SteemDB and SteemLiberator.

Anyone can vote for me as a proxy voter on Steem Witness Voting Page by typing in my name sc-steemit in the form that says Set Proxy. Doing this means I will vote on your behalf.

You can either vote yourself or delegate to a proxy. Delegating witness voting to a proxy can be convenient for users that don't have time to look through the witness data or don't bother about it. You can also keep up to date with my posts and create your own opinion based on my analyze.

Node Version

Running an up to date node is a vital part of being a witness. If a node runs another version than the current major release, they will be disabled by the network. These witnesses can not take part in witness activity and is a waste of a vote!

Anyone running the current major version can run on any minor release, but updating is highly recommended. Removing votes on witnesses that have not updated is one way of putting pressure on these witnesses.

0.19.0 Witnesses

Version 0.19.0 doesn't include some important updates solving issues for the network. Updating to 0.19.1 has been highly recommended.

Version 0.19.1 lacks some updates to the P2P code. An update would be recommended but may not be necessary.

Block Size

A witness can adjust the size of blocks to be accepted by their nodes. Last time the block size changed was before the release of v0.19.1 to mitigate an issue with users affected by bandwidth issues. After the release of v0.19.1, the recommendation is to use standard block size.

Note: Witnesses outside the Top 20 does not take part of the consensus process. However, making sure to keep these numbers up to date is a sign of an active witness
