Birth - Chapter 25 - Song of Angels, Book II

When Rephael popped out of sight, Tom went upstairs with the box to get the salt. He returned with all the salt. Two sets of salt shakers, the salt crock, and two rounds of salt. "Here, fill the file box." Tom handed a salt round to Mom.

He began to sprinkle salt on the floor. "Close the door behind me." He sprinkled salt down the corridor, and then he was out into the garage.

"Here put some on you me and Sparky." Mom handed Elizabeth a salt shaker. "Then let's make sure you father did a good job in here."

"Do you think it will work?"

"Something is out there and the father of your child looked terrible, popped in here and popped out again. What else do we have to go on?"

"Yes." Elizabeth set to salting everything in the room, shelves, desktop, and computer. Sparky licked the floor.

Rephael wrapped the paper around the part and then put into 1856. If his memory was right, his father would be there working on a fence and see it. He had to hope so or Cyrus Weeks would soon be dead and Mindy, his mother was no woman from 1856. She and Eon would be dead soon without Cyrus.

Rephael wondered what would happen if he died in 1856 while he waited. Would he still be alive now? With his child in Elizabeth's womb, what would happen then?

Cyrus saw a hand come out on the other side of the fence and set something wrapped in paper on the ground. He walked over and picked it up. He held the piece in his hand while he tried to read the paper. The wind was blowing and it took him about a minute to read it while the paper flopped.

'So I will die if I do not hold this for a minute,' Cyrus said to himself. 'Must be that I reached in to grab Eon.'

"Did I just see something come out of the air?" Holk asked in fright.

"No. You never saw a thing. Especially if, anyone ever asks." Cyrus answered and then set down the piece on the ground where he picked it up.

"Oh my God!" Holt screamed as a hand reached out and grabbed the piece and it disappeared.

"Remember Louis. You never saw anything. And we must be tired, deserve a break for awhile." Cyrus said.

"Ye...ye...yessir. A break." Holt answered.

"Let's go and get ourselves some coffee." Cyrus said then turned toward the house.

"How can you not be startled about that?" Holk asked as they walked to the house.

"If you really want to see something, stay working for me for another ten years or so. I'll give you a dollar a day raise if you do and can keep your mouth shut about this until you die."

"Another dollar a day?"

"Done." Cyrus said. "Let's get some coffee."

"Thanks Mr. Weeks." Holk said as they entered the door.

"From now on you're part of the family Louis, Call me Cyrus."

"Coffee break?" Mindy asked the men as they came in.

"Louis here is now part of our family." Cyrus said as he handed Mindy the note.

"Okay." Mindy read the note. Her eyes widened. "Are you all right dear?"

"Right as rain, never felt better Momma." Cyrus said.

"Coffee coming up and we should have lunch." Mindy said.

"Louis go cut off a ten pound roast we're going to have to take the rest of the day off." Cyrus said.

"So that did affect you?" Holt asked.

"Damn straight." Cyrus replied. Holk went out to get the meat. Mindy poured the coffee.

"Stew dear?" Mindy asked, setting a bowl down in front of her husband.

"That will be good for starters." Cyrus said after he finished a sip of coffee.

Wearing flip flops that did not fit and an ill fitting robe, Rephael popped back to where he first met Elizabeth. A sonic boom whizzed overhead and then a missile struck the jinni, well it struck the shield the jinni had around itself.

For once in his life, Rephael had no recollection of the future. He didn't know exactly what that meant. He was revived holding the piece.

If Elizabeth could see him, Tom, or Mom, their faces would be shocked. Rephael was completely healed. He felt great. He felt completely alive as the jinni advanced.

Rephael raised the piece up before him and began to advance toward the jinni. Flip flop, Flip flop, he walked down the path.

"I am the great KA!" The jinni roared at Rephael. His voice echoed across the valley with the sound of a thousand cannons firing, "Bow before me and I shall make thee greatest of this world."

"Under you of course," Rephael said as he advanced with the piece held high.

"You dare to defy me!" Ka released a blast of some sort of magical energy at Rephael. The piece absorbed it all.

"I see I must crush you personally, touch your filthy mortal body with my own foot!" Ka roared.

"Oh, jinni, I am spry. Catch me if you can weakling." Rephael continued his advance. 'I sure hope the military fires at just the right moment,' Rephael said to himself, 'Or this is going to be one long chase through time and space.'

"I have the salt." Rephael heard Tom say behind him.

"Set it down then retreat." Rephael said to Tom as he turned to pick up the salt. Tom put it in Rephael's hand instead,

"Good Luck! I hope you win." Tom ran back into the house.

"So do I," Rephael said as he resumed his advance to meet Ka, "So do I."
