“Mr. President, Advisors, Joint Chiefs, our next briefing after ISIS is the status of the ‘Pillars of the Sky’ Project,” General Crook said.

“The affected area has been sealed of by the local National Guard units as per your order Mr. President. Please look at the screen. We have found two former personnel who have had this area under observation.

'They have provided us with photographs of what it is that has done this. Keep in mind these photographs are taken from 2008 to yesterday at a distance of 15 miles. This is photograph 1 taken March 11th, 2008."

"General Crook, that is a tornado." The President interrupted.

"Excuse me Mr. President but it is not a tornado. As you will see in the remaining photographs over a period of four years, this thing is in the exact same place regardless of weather condition. It never moves. This next photograph was taken five hours later from the exact same position. Experts have estimated the diameter to be one mile and the height to be unknown. Data retrieved from the Cal Poly Database of the experiments shows this to be estimated to be 70,000 feet in height."

"Unbelievable..." Conversations murmurred around the table.

"General Crook," the President said, "Do we know who is responsible for this?"

"The command is under a General Sherman. He was ordered to supply the control center with all necessary materials, oversee their security, and ..."

"He authorized this himself?" The President asked incredulous.

"He received written orders from former, deceased, Joint Chief Overseeing Air Force Operations, Sky Stockton. Unfortunately, at the time the orders were sent, General Stockton was in a coma due to stroke. As near as we know, the orders for support for this project were hacked, the funds hacked, and all personnel assigned to the project issued orders by hackers. There is no trace of who is behind it."

"What?..." Again conversations broke out across the table.

"Is everyone in agreement?" The President asked. One by one each person around the table nodded their heads and said yes. "Then the nation is under attack by an unknown adversary using our own resources."

"According to our observers, the situation gets worse." General Crook interrupted.

"How so?"

"Our observers say the thing is intelligent and not likely from earth. They say it is the Mayan End of Civilization Device. Furthermore, our observers have spotted three of these things up until January 16th, 2012. On the 16th, it multiplied itself an made three more. There are now six of them spread out over a thousand square miles."

"Bomb them Mr. President." The General of the Air Force said.
