One photo every day: Gingerbread house (184/365)

in #onephotoeveryday7 years ago (edited)

Hello! :)

In our extended family there was a great aunt who used to bake a lot of gingerbread houses for everyone in the kin. After she died, there was a long break in the tradition.

Some time after my own mother died my father surprised us, and started the tradition anew. He's likely baking them for just me and my brother and our families, but anyway... We've been receiving them for the third year now.

So... my father gave us a Gingerbread house for Christmas. The tradition says we are not to eat it until Epiphany, on 6. January, so it's still under cellophane wrappers.

Even in dark, the cellophane gives a lot of reflections.

I'm going to shoot the house again when we remove the wrappers. :)

It's a nice gesture to continue the gingerbread building tradition. It sure takes effort to build one.

@gamer00,
Wow this is fantastic! I never see such a thing before! And not even know about such tradition! Thanks for sharing this and you made a great photography as well!

Cheers~

your father baked it very well or we can say very designed ....and sorry for your mother...

Oh, yes, my friend, this is a great tradition and very suitable for the Christmas holidays! Particularly nice, it is made in the form of a house, as a symbol of family and home comfort. I'm sure that he has a great taste! Thank you @gamer00 and happy Christmas!

You can send some of the gingerbread when you open it. It will taste great.

@gamer00 - Sir it looks like a house of Elfs in Lord of the Rings... Beautiful photography Sir... Your father gave you the best X'mas gift...
