Get Lean and Fit Just by Using Your... Brain? #ManifestChallenge Day 11
Imagine... getting fit without moving a muscle. No, really! Studies prove imagining exercises can help you get fit without moving a muscle!
Visualization stimulates the nervous system which is the governor of our fight or flight response. Studies show that by simply envisioning a movement causes increases in heart rate, breathing, and blood pressure-with responses comparable to those recorded during the actual physical movement.
In 2007, the North American Journal of Psychology published findings from such a study showing that athletes who mentally imagined practicing a repetitive hip flexor exercise 5 times per week for 15 minutes, gained significant strength almost in line with participants who did the physical exercise on a weight machine for the same amount of time.
It's no secret that athletes and sports stars use visualization before their events and competitions. Armed with this knowledge you can quite literally sit and be fit!
Of course, visualization is good for muscle building, but you still have to actually get up and move around to gain the benefits of exercise to increase the oxygen in your blood and keep your cells young, fit and healthy :)
But to increase muscle, try the power of your mind!
Try it:
Visualize yourself performing the exercise of your choice. For instance, if it's squats- imagine bending, balancing and tensing.
Practice as many reps in your mind as your regular workout. Really feel the burn!!
Have you tried visualizing for workout or sports? Share your experiences!

Does 15 trips a day of walking to kitchen, for coffee, count?
Depends... how far is your kitchen?
As a fairly accurate estimation (counting the tiles) - 3 meters from my desk ! lol
Perhaps if the steps are lunges with weights...
;)
It a BIG cup off coffee. Water weighs a lot!
You would need two- to balance out... And still.., lunges

Mind truly is a powerful tool. Gotta take this one into my toolbox :D
Isn't it amazing how much something as seemingly simple as a thought affects your entire life!
I usually don't like listening to quotes or throwing them around (I'm always doubtful whether the source is even the person presented or if the meaning is misinterpreted) but this just came to my mind and it seems fitting.
Ah, yes. Good choice :) Good share <3
