Steem Saturday - Branching Out - May 9th 2020
Steem is a blockchain form of social media that pays its users. Learn more
Hello everyone! This is a new post I am doing to try to summarize some of what has been going on in each week of Steem. In addition, this post will include some of the new users I have found this week, and all of the post's rewards will go to them (with the remaining 4 percent going to @steemit). A lot happened this week on Steem! We will get to that, but first, let's talk about the new users I found this week.

Welcome to Steem!
While there were a lot of introduction posts this week, I only read so many, and I could only include so many. These users had some of my favorite introductions this week. Please note that a star next to the username means the introduction post was Steem Exclusive.
User | Date | Description |
---|---|---|
@allbert* | 5/8/2020 | Alberto's post resonated a lot with me! He is a 32 year old Venezualen musician defined by the family he came from. Albert has a fondness for enjoying the beauty of other people's work, and a talent for writing! I imagine that Albert will fit in very nicely here on Steem, and I can't wait to see what he posts! |
@nkanika4christ* | 5/4/2020 | Miss Iniobong Bassey's talents and interests range from Agricultural Economics to Fashion. She loves to cook, sing, and meet people who provoke thought in her. She also loves playing games. Most notably, fashion games. I can imagine that she is going to do really well here on Steem! |
@zion21st* | 5/8/2020 | In addition to English, Adikwu Francis speaks three Nigerian languages! He is a music lover (specifically Taylor Swift), and his notable hobbies include cooking, watching football (probably called soccer in America), reading, and experiencing nature. I think Adikwu will do really well here, and I invite any communities that incorporate his hobbies to reach out! |
@asmaniasmu | 4/29/2020 | Asma Akter has a gift for photography! She comes from Bangladesh, and is currently in her third year studying marketing at Government Savar College. She enjoys traveling, eating, photography, and planting trees. I hope to see her post more about her travels, and I definitely look forward to seeing some more of her photography! Welcome to Steem Asma! |
@eloghosa | 5/6/2020 | Eloghosa tells a heart warming story about a dream that almost came true, but didn't quite. He has spent years blogging ever since his first website failed, and eventually landed in Steem. Now, he has returned. Eloghosa is a truly good writer, and as he said: "A pen is a delicate instrument, and how you choose to use it says a lot about who you are." I hope he will use his pen well here on Steem! |
@abiga554 | 4/30/2020 | Abigail joined us two years ago, and has decided to return since circumstance has allowed her to! She has a beautiful family, and is a Venezualen publicist residing in Peru. She plans to post on a variety of topics, including stories from her day to day life as a mother, good foods to eat, and methods of exercising! Steem is the perfect place to write about these things, and I hope that Abigail finds much success here! |

Tuesday was odd because the site was malfunctioning all day. It seems that it did not return to normal until late in the day. What's going on with me?
In these Saturday posts, I also intend to include some of what I have been doing this week.
Community Building
At this time, I think a crucial point is that we need to begin building communities that will spark interest in the outside world. I currently have two:
Build the Earth
Yesterday, I posted the French Build the Earth group's video building the French village of Turenne here on Steem to try to show the French team the capabilities of Steem. I am happy to say that they shared it warmly in their discord announcements, and the tweet that my father made was retweeted by the village of Turenne's twitter account. Through the build the Earth community, I hope to build a bridge between our two communities. If you have an interest in Minecraft, I invite you to join me in participating in this community, and trying to promote it to those who are also building the Earth.
Wizarding World
This community is meant to try to engage readers of the Harry Potter franchise. This community was also started to try to bring in new users. I have begun posting discussion posts, but I would appreciate it if anyone interested joins the community and begins posting Harry Potter content. In order to bring outside people in, we first have to bring inside people in. I have a few posts planned for this week.
That being said, a good topic for discussion is:
What other communities are there out there that we could bring here?
I invite you to try to build communities meant to spark interest in the outside world.
Discussion Posts
Each week, I have been sharing a post to generate discussion by rewarding the users who participate. This week, the topic is: What is the best Star Wars movie? Feel free to come and join the discussion. I am also looking for sponsors. If you are interested in sponsoring, there is a section in the post dedicated to the subject.
Steem-Greeter Achievement System
This post is designed to generate discussion about the potential for an achievement system for new users. Feel free to join the discussion. The Steemit Team intends to start a community for this system, and I would love your input on what the achievements should consist of!
Conclusion
Thanks for reading this! I hope to post a similar post each week on Saturday. Please make sure to go check out the new users, and make them feel welcome here on Steem!
