Eighteen Again (Freewrite #31: Art Prompt)

Freewriting

Today's freewrite prompt is a painting by @deadgrlsuppastar. I enjoy when artists contribute their work and become an inspiration to other artists or writers. Collaborations are part of what makes steem so special and unique. For all you freewriters, I would recommend checking out the introductory post to the @freewritehouse: Freewrite House is Open.

Eighteen Again

She lived thousands of years and never found happiness. This is her last chance, the last fruit from the tree of youth. Her wrinkled hands pick the last apple - she will be young again, for one last time. Each of her lives, she searched for a purpose and never found one. Afraid of dying without leaving a legacy, afraid of dying and being forgotten, she ate from the tree of youth and became eighteen again. Nobody knew about the tree but her. Each of its apples were taken by her and nobody else.

Her memories intact, thousands years and tens of lives, she still searches for happiness. She witnessed plagues and wars and survived through all. She witnesses empires and governments, all promising to bring her the happiness she sought - but they never have. Unfulfilled, she has one last chance.

Maybe this time, she will succeed. There is a purpose to her last life, her last youth. She knows, there is no turning back. Mortality is going to be a reality. Could it be that without death there was no happiness? No purpose? Before, she knew she could start all over again and have the same life again. This time it was different. She would never have this life again. It was her last, and she knew she had to make it count.

Wish she would get all the satisfaction of the life for the last time !! Good freewrite man :)

I hope so too :)

That was top quality stuff @poetrybyjeremy I really like where you went with this picture prompt... "Could it be that without death there was no happiness?" An interesting concept, an oxymoron of sorts..

It's kind of a philosophical take - death does bring anxiety but it also brings meaning and purpose. Thank you :)

Ahh the search forc immortality! Great take on the painting. Would we eat the fruit? It reminds me of Eve.

It depends. If I'm the only one who has access to the fruit, definitely not. I would not want to watch my world die and live with all those memories haunting me. I believe I am happy with where my life is heading and I accept death whenever it comes - I have already made a difference in the world, even if it is tiny.

Yes, you have <3!

Very thoughtful and interesting: does mortality make life more meaningful? Well done for stirring the grey cells!! 😄

Haha Thank you. I think it would make life more meaningful. We tend to appreciate those around us more when there time has come to an end. Maybe we are too guilty and stuck in regret - but when things are about to end, we always end up seeing their true beauty. That's life. Without an end, wouldn't it be eternal torment?

Terrific take on the piece Poetrybyjeremy! Immortality is more often seen as a curse, since who wants to live forever without someone to share it with? Maybe she'll find happiness with a purpose and experience the wonder and that comes from mortality!

Today's prompt is brought to you by the tricky Clurichaun, Briggsy. He's roaming the wine cellars of Freewrite, helping himself to a few bottles and leaving behind a bit of tobacco from his pipe. Sorry folks, he's not known for paying, so don't bother sending a bill!

We do hope she finds happiness - everyone deserves it. Thank you :)
Honestly, I am surprised that this prompt has arrived. I hope you didn't pass out and found yourself to every freewriter before getting too drunk

I wasn't drinking then. Clurichaun had stolen all the booze! ;)

Well, she better joins the freewriters than. That should do it :)

That would definitely be a great idea! Get her to blurt out her fears and chase her dreams through freewrite!
