Misty Mountain Hop

Maybe Jimmy Page had some part in me staying in Korea.

The mountains surround me and call my name. It has been raining all day and even now the mist sits over the mountain top. The world is filled with stress and pressure but over the hills the spirits fly high. I am wiped out after teaching all day. I have no wise words left to say. After a day of hard work I am just happy to be alive. Now a resurge of energy comes from this joy.

Misty Mountain

Spring rain pours life into my veins
Above barometric pressures are pressures insane
To keep the façade on the stage
While sixty eyeballs watch every move I make
Clinging to intonations of my voice without catching a word
Wandering obscurities and thirsting for attention
It would easier for me to just give them a detention.

Mimicry dies within four walls
Listen and repeat doesn’t mean recall
Vocabulary tied up in knots.
Minsu just cannot hold his pees.
A race through the corridor saved by porcelain walls,
At least it not in the classroom on Yuna’s new dress.

Saved by the bell, empty and lost,
A line outside my office door asking for more.
“Do you remember my son? He graduated last year?”
I’m sorry I couldn’t hear.

Enough. I’m done. I’m out of here.
I’m out of line.
Not in the streets where the pressure lies.
I’m up that misty mountain.
I took that misty mountain hop.
I’m on the other side.
Really a state of mind.

To give thanks for the rain and thanks for the day,
To give thanks for the kids who stood with me today.
Thanks brings me back to the misty mountain top.
Can you make a misty mountain hop?

This is the actual view from my window this evening when I got home. The fog is so serious I cannot even see the mountain. I hope you enjoyed my 8th poem in the Steemitschool poetry competition.(Steemitschool Discord)

Verse of the Day/ 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

"Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."

Smile. It's raining.

Aahhh man, you're making me miss my own Misty Mountain. My situation is the opposite: I gave up Table Mountain in Cape Town when I decided to stay here in Brazil.

Table Mountain is like the heart of the city. It keeps everyone together, united. And going up (or partly up) there and perhaps smoking some weed and reflecting upon my life was one of my favourite things to do.

Wonderful stuff, as usual.

Oh. Do you know Scrooger? I guess you do. He is from South Africa. Table mountain is awesome. What city are you at in Brazil? In Korea weed is prison time:)

I can see why you love it there. That view is breathtaking, even on a cloudy/foggy day.

I have to tell that my favorite teacher in from High School is my English teacher. I actually found her some years ago on Facebook and have the pleasure of calling her a friend now days.

Of course, she refers to all of us as her children. :P

That is wonderful @debralee. The only teachers I kept in touch with are my old professors. They were young then. One is a university president now. The other is in a better place. It's great that you found your teacher on facebook. I think in years to come some of my students will find me here at Steemit.

Thank you so much from your comment. I thought this poem was about mining the heart but I see it is really about education. This is the awesome thing about blogging and interaction. I can see things in retrospect. Now today is sunny and the air is cleaner than it ever has been before.

Tickled by this classroom drama (Minsu just cannot hold his pees :) and grateful for the exquisite view and spiritual uplift, @mineopoly

Welcome @yahialababidi. I'm glad to find a new friend to connect with. And I'm totally glad it is Friday. Your user name is one of the most difficult to spell but I will get used to it. I have so many ideas but so little time to do what I want here. On the other hand your posts look cool and relaxed. I have a lot to learn from you.

Sounds like you really earned your weekend, hope you enjoy it. Ah, the strain that goes into cool and relaxed posts ... the furious paddling that goes on beneath the waterline to give the effect of swanlike prose 🤓
I’ve been at it for a bit is all. Hope you continue to enjoy what you read & get to do more of what you want 🙇🏻‍♂️

I enjoy the sort of cerebral meets surreal approach that you use in your poetry to show your readers glimpses into your experiences. Here, sort of the heart meets the steady path of education (goals and fulfillment).

A pleasant read, @mineopoly, thank you for sharing.

Thanks for reading @carmalain7. I'm glad you could follow. I want enough simplicity that someone can laugh and the same time think but not giving the complete story in the words leaving you the opportunity to choose what it means for you.

With gratitude,

@mineopoly

Dude. I don't recommend anyone following links from strangers. It's kind of like that rule we had when we were kids not to take candy from strangers. How do I call Steemclean on you?
