Vladimir nodded.
“Jessica thinks that she can hear the sordid fantasies that Lickspittle is harbouring about her.”

Entwistle bristled at the use of his newly-acquired nickname and then realised what Vladimir had just accused him of. “What? I don’t have any fantasies...” he blustered. He looked from Lord Grey to Vladimir and back to Lord Grey as he stumbled over his words and tried to deny the accusations.

“Oh please.” Selene sneered at him. “You have been lusting after Jessica Rabbit since Paul pointed her out to you a few months ago. Even before he decided to bring her to us. You may as well admit it, Lickspittle. You would very much like to seduce and sully poor, sweet and innocent Jessica. That is the reason that you want to mentor her, because you know that if you are in a position of power and influence over her, the Stockholm Syndrome is more likely to come into play and she may just fall for you and let you do all the things that you desperately want to do to her, you disgusting, squalid mongrel.”

“Enough!” Lord Grey said and banged his hand on the desk.

“How does she know this? What has she told you?”

“She hasn’t told me much; she said that when he looked at her and especially when he got close to her as he went to get your coffee, there must have been a connection of sorts because she could see his need to debauch her. She spoke of images that she had felt inside her head and the lust that he had for her. She doesn’t know how she felt like that but she does know she is not imagining it and she is scared.”

Lord Grey was silent. Selene wasn’t. “How on earth can she do that? I don’t think that she is lying, I’ve seen how Lickspittle looks at her and I think she’s dead on the money with him. He’s insidious and lecherous and he’s targeted Jessica because she is far weaker than he is and he will be able to prove himself to her far better than he would be able to with a Wolf female, even a newly whelped one.”

“I’m still here, you venomous bitch!” Entwistle screamed at her. His chin thrust forward, elbows locked straight and his arms ended in white-knuckled fists by his sides.

Selene barely glanced at him and dismissed him out of hand. “Oh give it a rest, Lickspittle; it’s not like you don’t know how the other Wolves in this company regard you. You’re a laughing stock, a figure of derision. You follow Lord Grey so close that if he stops sharp, you’d need a proctologist to clean your teeth for you.”

Lord Grey smiled at that comment and Entwistle saw the smile and flew into an impotent fury.

He could not react in violence towards Selene, she would rip him apart and he could not react in anger at Lord Grey. Entwistle didn’t wish to risk his position at his master's side.

Selene grinned at him as though she knew that he couldn’t do anything and he felt tears of embarrassment and fury sting his eyes. Entwistle turned and left the office with as much dignity as he could muster – which was more in his mind than anywhere else. He heard the laughter begin as he opened the door and the only saving grace was that Lord Grey snapped at the others to behave like adults.

Entwistle went out into the town and decided what he would do.

Chapter 9

As he made his way through the quiet streets, Entwistle remembered an encounter that he had tried to block for many a decade. After the humiliating events of the evening, he allowed his mind to punish him further, and in doing so, he made certain that his impotent fury was wound to its tightest.

And then the memory tightened it up a notch further.

She knew her trade and he knew his – or so he imagined.

She heard him behind her, she had known that he was following her from the very moment he had seen her and decided that he would find out where she was going. She had spotted him a long time before he saw her and she wondered what he would do, so she didn’t make any attempt to conceal herself.

Hazel dodged around the corner, out of sight and, exactly as she thought, he came around the corner moments later.

She caught him by his throat and hefted him up against the wall. His eyes bulged, both from the surprise and from the pressure of her hand on his throat.

He knew better than to struggle and his hands rested upon her wrist only enough to let her know that he was scared and didn’t want to be strangled.

Sort:

You're trying to make us feel sorry for Entwistle, t'ain't gonna happen.

Hahaha! No... I don't like him either! Can you tell? ;)

I can, but it seemed almost like a cry-out for some sympathy. Which in real life a Lickspittle like him would really do, play the oh woe is me card.LoL. The reality behind your characters is what makes your story so fun to read.

horror situation

I actually do feel a little sorry for Lickspittle. Yes, he's a sleazy, nasty little being. But he has to live with himself all the time, which must be horrid. Not that I like him or am forgiving him for anything he's done or is going to do, of course...

That's SO true.

What a little weasel...

He is so that! I've been trying to respond to this all day!
