Ulog #22 - Are You Any Good?

Today a friend messaged in our football group that he had a team that were short two guys and so myself and another freind said we would be happy to help out. When we got there we noticed that we knew only 1 of the other players so yeah did the usual introductions and got warmed up before the game.
Right before the game started, the one I assume is the captain walks up to myself and my friend and asked us a very interesting question "Are you any good?". We both looked at him and said "We'll we're ok, pretty average"
Then he asked where we would like to play and we said it didn't matter and he assigned us a position. We don't normally play with random people so we found it to be a pretty random question having both played football since primary school and at club level.
There are always a lot of egos on the field and well it's an unpredictable game so you don't really want to say you're good and once you get to it, you have have a terrible game right? Rather under promise and over deliver is how I see it.

As the game got on
Our team won the game and I set up 3 goals and my friend scored 1. So safe to say, we're involved in all of the goals. None of the team mates then questioned us after the game, and we just found it so funny.
Today I have a bit of a question for you. Are you any good? What is it that you're really good at? Are you proud to say you're good it? Do you underplay what you're good at? What do you feel is the best way to react to a question like that?

It’s still a hit and miss avenue for me, sometimes I can pull it off other days it pulls me into what feels like an early grave
