Attractions of Sapa #16 Ta Phin Village and Cave

Ta Phin Village lies 17 kilometres to West of Sapa Town. This is home to the Red Dao ethnic minority group and has remained almost completely unchanged by modern life. This is not a village that features on many tourist routes here and as a result, you will enjoyed a truly authentic view of village life. Getting to the village is about a 30 minute ride by motorbike and although the roads are not really suitable for cars, an experienced Xe Om (motorbike taxi) will take you there safely. The drivers are experienced and know the area well; they are often the source of good tips on things to see.

The local Red Dao women appear to be constantly sewing, even whilst standing chatting in groups. This village is set up and thrives on the selling of their wonderful woven brocade. They weave really pretty bags, scarves, purses, skirts, coats, and even backpacks.They speak English surprisingly well and some actually use it as a first language now.

The cave is really not touristic at all, which is a bit of a surprise because it is obviously set up to receive tourists. Pay the people at the entrance a dollar or so and they will turn on the lights so you can experience the superb rock formations inside. There are proper steps enabling you to descend into the depths. It’s a really good experience.
