Attractions of Sapa #7 Lao Chai Village
Lao Chai Village is home to one of the most interesting ethnic minority groups in Vietnam. The Black H’Mong people have live here for centuries. This country is rightly proud of their ethnic minority people, whose groups number 54 different tribes. Lao Chai Village is but a few minutes walk from the town centre of Sapa. It sits in a beautiful valley with picturesque mountain peak at one end.
The village is teeming with life and the villagers are happy to show you round. They will offer their handicrafts for sale and if you can afford to spare some of your holiday money you will be helping to keep alive their traditional lifestyle. This is one of the poorest regions in the whole of Vietnam.
If you wish you can stay overnight in the village at a homestay. From here it is a beautiful trek to some of the other villages in the area. En route you’ll see local people working the fields with water buffalo, traditional houses, rice paddies and wonderful mountain views.
Lao Chai Villages offers an authentic look into a lifestyle that has remained unchanged for generations.
