The Ultimate Strategy Guide Set to Help Newbies Make Money on Steemit

in #steemit6 years ago (edited)

I ran across @energyaddict22 awhile back. We are both interested in energy markets. I first met him by commenting on one of his energy posts. And where are you going to find anyone more interesting than someone who took KC BBQ (I'm about an hour away from KC & love BBQ) to Russia of all places! haha

His Steemit Strategies posts really clicked with me.

  • He must be brilliant because when he writes about strategies, I agree 100%! haha
    • I had ran across and spent quite a bit of time with people who I still really like, but I disagree with certain ideas they have about Steemit. A prime example is they had convinced me to stop upvoting my posts, even though I saw nothing morally or ethically wrong with doing so. I mean here my vote was less than $0.01, so it's not going to make a hill of beans worth of difference to the vast rewards pool, if I upvote myself or not. I may rethink this strategy down the road somewhere between now and when I'm a Steemit gazillionaire, but for now, I'm going to upvote my own "quality content" posts.
      • So anyway, here is my humble attempt to give you "Cliff's Notes" from his set of posts. (CliffsNotes are a series of student study guides...). These notes are by no means a replacement of spending time reading and studying his entire set of posts. They are basically here to prime your idea pump.
  • I'm hoping more newbies get a chance to see this GREAT set of strategies to help them succeed here on Steemit.

WizNOTE to newbies - These strategies will help you optimize your chances of succeeding here on Steemit.

  • If your idea of success is making some money, I highly recommend you follow @energyaddict22's blog and spend some time studying the strategies that follow!
    • If your goal is more along the lines of just helping other people, realize if you don't accumulate some decent Steem Power, you won't be able to help much. These strategies can help you help more...

Steemit Strategies - My 4 Month Review

The post

This post kicked off all the other Steemit Strategies posts...

I've been getting quite a few requests on strategies to improve Steemit accounts and while I'm not the authority on the matter, I seem to be one of the few that will speak about strategies openly. Good, solid information is harder to come by on Steemit than I would prefer.

Therefore, this week and next few after that I'm going to talk about some of the things I'm doing and what I would suggest others to do in order to make their Steemit journey more profitable. These are my suggestions based on my own successes and failures on the Steemit platform. Although I've done extensive reading and research on all the topics I will discuss, I strongly suggest you do your own due diligence before you make any significant financial decisions. For most of you that won't be a problem because you're dead ass broke anyway.

4 months on Steemit:

  • 1200+ posts/comments
  • 1000+ followers
  • 1600 actual SP
  • I'm hitting my goals and targets regularly now on growing my account and growing my network of friends and communities.

  • This week I will have my best week ever and make about $250 USD profit of which $125 will be liquid and the other will go to Steem Power.

What I've learned in 4 Months

  • There are genuinely wonderful people on Steemit that are friendly, intelligent, and wise. Unfortunately, there are a bunch of fucking blithering idiots. liars, and scumbags here too. Just like anywhere else in the world.

  • You can make money on this platform.
  • Writing good content matters.
  • People will try to help you succeed here...
  • Friends and Networking matter!

What you will learn here from my notes,
and then investing time reading his set of posts:
Tools, Resources, and Lessons

  • Voting Bots and Upvote Services
  • Resteem services
  • Delegating SP and Leasing SP
  • Curation
  • There are Great Communities on Steemit and within Discord to help you to get better at Steemit and to grow your account.
  • There is absolutely nothing wrong with Self-voting.

Steemit Strategies - Making the Most of Comments

The post

Use Comments to Build Your Audience, Account, and Curation Rewards

  • Beware of Dust!
    • @thedarkhorse's post did a study showing the minimum value for anyone to receive a payout is $0.03.
  • strategies for those UNDER .03 voting power at 100%
    • Only upvote comments that you know are going to reach .03 minimum.

    • Be the very first person to upvote a comment.

    • Respond to the person that comments on your post and do it in the first 24 hours.

    • less than 80% VP is ZERO - learn it, live it, love it (Don't vote when your VP is < 80%)

    • Use Comments instead of upvotes when your VP is under 80%.

    • Comment ALL the time on people's posts. Especially people that have some freaking SP. Quit wasting your time posting 20 times a day on other plankton's posts.

  • Strategies for Those Over the .03 Threshold
    • upvote every person that writes something intelligent in response to your posts.

    • If you see a plankton upvote your comment for peanuts, upvote your own comment to .03 so they get curation for it.

WizNOTE: You may want to check out @dustsweeper by @danielsaori, which is a paid service to upvote dust votes you may receive. So far there are 200+ registered users and a total of $25 saved from turning into dust..

Steemit Strategies - Understanding Curation Rewards

The post
Notes:

  • You (maybe) earn curation rewards for upvoting posts and comments.
  • Curation rewards = 25% of the post's or comment's payout
  • If you vote before 30 minutes you are sharing your curation reward with the author.
  • The goal is to vote before bigger upvoters. (but not too early)
  • You do not steal a smaller voter's curation rewards by voting after them with a lot more VP, they actually earn more rewards.

Curation Strategies for Low SP Steemians

  • Don't waste your time or your precious votes chasing curation rewards at all!

  • Use your upvotes like they are GOLD. You only get 70 - 75 of them a week at full VP.

  • Don't follow a Curation Trail yet until you get to about 750 or more SP and even then there are some other options that pay much better than curation trails.

  • around 250 SP, you should definitely be self-voting all your posts immediately at publication.

    • At 500 SP, self Vote your posts immediately.

  • Don' upvote your commenters until you can vote $0.03, then upvote all of them $0.03.
  • 500 SP is a great goal since it allows you to use the vote slider (voting <100% VP)

Steemit Strategies - Communities and Focus

The post
Reasons to stay on Steemit and read @energyaddict22's blog...

  • make friends, network, read some cool posts, learn about faraway lands, etc.

  • make ... money

  • help others in their Steemit journey by sharing your knowledge

  • better understand some of the ways in which the platform truly operates

Reasons to give up on Steemit and please don't read @energyaddict22's blog...

  • you don't want to put in a couple hours a day or at least 15 hours a week

  • you think that copy/paste posts, plagiarism, photos of your breakfast, or reposts using Parley are good ways to do that

  • If YOU want to help others in their Steemit journey by singing Kumbaya, badmouthing whales that pay no attention to you, bitch about "greedy" self-voters, and share your ridiculous predictions of the demise of Steemit because of Haejin

In Steemit, SP RULES.

Goals for Steemit

  • be a curator
  • build a following of loyal supporters
  • do both
    • You will need to work and hard.

My List of Communities That I Think are Worth Looking Into or Joining

  • @qurator
    • the best organization for newbies that write quality content consistently.

    • --------------------- Your Quality Content Curator ---------------------
    • Registration Fee 4 Steem (NOT SBD)
  • @asapers
    • Manual Curation team & Plankton all round helper!
  • #PayitForward
  • @dynamicsteemians
    • by @dynamicgreentk
    • byline = A basic hub for new steemit users that is meant to help encourage personal Steemit Channel growth and activity and further basic skill sets

    • byline = Welcome to the official home of the Steemit Greeters Guild. Our mission is to grow our community in a positive way through compassion and education. Follow us!

Conclusion...

Your goals and your community's goals may not always align and that is okay, but the moment they start telling you that you must "behave" a certain way or spend your money (upvotes) a certain way that you don't agree with, leave.

Steemit Strategies - SP - So You Want to Be a Banker

The post

The most common question about Leasing and Delegating SP is, "Which is more profitable?" The answer is simple - BOTH.

  • Minimum to delegate is at least 100 SP
  • Delegating to @qurator = increased daily upvotes
  • Delegation = passive income.
    • Don't delegate if you are active on Steemit.

You can delegate using https://www.minnowbooster.net/

Buying Votes

Steemit Strategies - Is Buying Votes Profitable?

The post

  • Part I - Why I Buy Upvotes

    • I use upvote services and bots to project value on my posts so that other people believe I'm credible.

    • I want to attract a larger audience with my posts.

    • Get free, easy upvotes from people that don't understand how curation works.

    • PROFIT

  • Is buying upvotes profitable? - YES
    • You can buy votes and make a profit, but only if you do it right and there is a minefield of factors involved.

  • #1 Thing - Get more than 200% from our paid upvotes.

  • #2 Thing - Lower the amount that is paid out to curators (25%) by increasing the amount paid to YOU in curation by upvoting your own post immediately.

  • #3 Thing - Your going to get more people to upvote your content because you don't look like the poor, fat, ugly kid at the lunch table.

Love that quote so funny because it is so true.
Thanks Wizard for reminding me. I gotta get over there and learn some more stuff ASAP

haha yes that one gave me a chuckle for sure.
Simple truth is what he tells.
It seems most others are afraid to talk about making money. Like it's a really bad thing. It not, unless that's your only goal.

  • I wish I would have had those to read when I got started...

I agree and a genuinely nice fellow to boot.
