Pimp Your Post Thursday Report #6A -- Morning Report From Nov. 23rd PYPT
WOW, I was expecting this week’s PYPT to be a bit on the slow side due to the American Thanksgiving holiday. Both sessions were well attended and some really neat posts shared.
While I put this report together to further share the posts and let people like you, my reader, know who is participating and what they are contributing, I really don’t get to share the full experience with you.
The conversations which develop during PYPT and even after the presentations are complete are really wide ranging and interesting. This week we talked about topics like; the current state of Steemit, the possible future of Steemit, grammar and the use of the semi-colon, biotechnology and the possible impacts on our future world, books, movies, authors, cryptocurrency etc.
It’s a diverse group of people of different levels of experience on STEEM and different content choices which becomes fodder for conversation to break out. It’s also an opportunity for connections to be made.
Yesterday, people seeking diversity in the communities they were connected to found new communities to explore. Curation opportunities were found by another and a possible new content collaboration was discovered. Networking and making connections is what drives us forward on the platform. It’s not just about upvotes, follows and resteems.
Here are the posts that were shared.
Reflections #1 : A Mixed Media Collaboration Contest (Pre-announcement)
Leading off the morning session was @tinypaleokitchen with her post about her newest contest. Her post is one of three she’s putting up to give you time and opportunity to be ready to enter when the contest submissions open on Dec. 16th.
My summary of this contest would be text partnering with art. You can enter on your own or collaborate with another. Check the post out for the details. Really neat concept.
Finding Good Curators for Delegation 📢 DELEGATION CONTEST 🔊
@beanz was next up with her rather long post on how she sees the current state of delegation to curators on the platform and some suggestions for what might be. She also announced a curation contest which you can register to enter. Check the post out for more information and how to register for the contest. It’s going to be interesting to see where she takes it.
Flags, Fiction on Steemit, and a Publishing House Dream
@bex-dk presented her post with her views on the current flagging kerfuffle that developed around the flagging of @michelle.gent’s work by @transisto. The post is even-handed on opinions and factual on what took place that she’s aware of and how fiction writing on the block is going to help take STEEM into mainstream awareness.
@transisto seems to have more of a tech and cryptocurrency background and little appreciation for fiction writing and the value it has in the mainstream as well as here on the block. His willingness to come into The Writers Block was likely an opportunity for him to gain some awareness.
They're New England Puppies Now!
@tinypaleokitchen popped back to the mic to present this post of @rhondak on her @tarc account. @tarc is the account for the animal rescue @rhondak operates in an area of Virginia where dogs and their welfare is so far down the list if priorities as to not exist.
The support @tarc receives comes from the blockchain and those who care, proving the blockchain can change even animals lives. It’s somehow fitting that I’m writing this with one arm stretched over a cat sleeping on my lap.
The post describes transporting a group of puppies and their mom out of this uncaring area to New England where they were met by loving people who will take these pups into their homes and give them they love and care they deserve.
If you care about animals and their welfare, good luck getting through the video at the end without a tear or two of joy. So, grab the tissue and watch it to the end, it will make your day.
Steemit Tutorials - How To Set Your Profile Picture, Cover Image, Display Name, About, Location, and Website
SaipanDamashii aka @rodeo670 shared his tutorial post about how to setup your settings on your blog. With posts getting buried so easily on Steemit, good, easy to follow tutorials on how to use the site don’t go to waste.
Posts not visible on Zappl interface
@seablue shared this post with us which had been originally posted on utopian.io to report a possible bug in the Zappl interface. The post and in particular the comments which followed showed up the effects that can and does result with other apps in the STEEM ecosystem appearing on Steemit.
You’ll see one poster suggested that @seablue should report the bug as he was looking at it on Steemit and unaware the post had been made on another app.
Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology - A Viable Target For Promo-Steem, Promo-Ghana + 3 Steemians Meet Up
Next up, @anaman presented his post about his visit to Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology to meet up with his school son, who wasn’t available but did end up having a mini-meetup with other Steemizens he knew but had never met. Interesting read.
Legends of the Old Gods - Chapter 3
@steph4nus presented the next installment in his fiction series. The story narrator shares diary entries being read of the main character as she sleeps. Neat twist when you find out who the narrator is. Sorry, not telling :)
The Struggle Of My Land
@hz432creations shared this post with us about some of the unrest and the disturbing non-democratic actions taking place in Italy. It’s his goal to get information out their mainstream media is not reporting on.
Some of us were commenting on how stunning the photo was he chose to accompany the post.
"THANKS = APPRECIATION" ~ © Tiffany E. Reed
@thekittygirl a short but effective post in honour of the American Thanksgiving holiday. She conveyed a message which applies to all of us.
How likely for two people in a room to have the same birthday? (or The Birthday Paradox )
@mcfarhat shared his post which explored the probability of two people in a room sharing a birthday. He discussed what it would take to make that probability happen and some of the math behind in.
When Life Hands You Raindrops...
@molovelly shared another instalment of the adventures of her friend Rhoda who now has her own Steemit account. In today’s episode @molovelly wasn’t able to take Rhoda out so she taught her how to make a Cranberry Maple Glaze just in time for Thanksgiving. Recipe included.
SirCork Witness Report: Time for some 'splainin'...
@sircork gave his followers an update on his activities which has been a lot in the last while. He also extended a heartfelt olive branch to some others in regards to a situation. A very appropriate time of year to extend olive branches and try to mend fences.
A Day In the Life Contest 2040 - The Reader
@authorofthings shared with us her entry for @pennsif’s “One Day in 2040” contest in which she’s written a diary entry of what she feels like could be like in that time.
Tiny Toothpick Penguins Out To Play
@lenadr was with us yesterday for the first time, coming over from The Writer’s Block where she helps out in the workshops and is an editor. She didn’t have a current post, so she shared an older one, which showed us she’s also an artist. If you want to know a bit more about @lenadr, visit her post.
The Truth about Wales - scary statistics revealed. How can we improve the retention rate?
@pennsif shared his recent explorations of the state of Steemit users in Wales, which is where he lives. In a land of 3.1million people, he located only 15 active on Steemit. As an analogy of the retention rate for the platform, there is work to be done.
He put out an appeal for those who are active in Wales to work on recruiting more on to the platform. Good proactive work.
Canadian Constituency Award Received by Steemian for Community Service
Finally for the morning session, I shared my post which explained why I wasn’t in attendance at the previous Thursday’s morning session of PYPT and also how #thealliance had named me as feature member of the week.
Conclusion for The Morning PYPT
It was a great session with seventeen posts shared, some great conversation was held that went on long after the posts were finished being shared.
As last week’s PYPT ended up sharing almost 40 posts, I’m dividing this week into Morning and Evening reports. The long long list of posts is time consuming to go through, so hopefully this makes it a bit easier.
Don’t forget, you can visit the Steemit Ramble discord at anytime. When you share the post of another Steemizen in the nominate-someones-post channel you will get access to another channel nominate-your-post. I regularly review those two channels for potential posts to share in the Steemit Ramble.
If you are two busy to share, there is a post promotion channel. I might look in there some day. Steemit is about sharing and building community.
Thanks for having me guys! And thank you for helping me share what's happening here
It was great having you there @hz432creations. I hope you found some other interesting posts and people during your visit. Come on in often.
I did, and I'm glad I've heard Sir Cork again!
Thank you for including both my post and @tarc's! I hadn't intended to pimp my own (although your description sure makes me feel good about what I wrote), only @tarcs. Seriously... those puppies. Have tissues!!
I was more than happy to share your post @bex-dk ... well written and needs to be shared :)
Thanks for the mention @shadowspub. Glad I found PYPT, will definitely be back.
It is great fun ... those who attend all contribute to that
