"Meditation HOW and WHY" - everything you need to know - part seven: GROUNDING meditation

in #meditation6 years ago (edited)

Welcome to the 7th part in my series "Meditation HOW and WHY". First six parts are available here:

PART 1: Introduction to meditation and general categories
PART 2: Mindfulness meditation technique
PART 3: Vipassana meditation technique
PART 4: 3 categories of benefits
PART 5: Guided meditation technique
PART 6: Breathing techniques

This post is dedicated to a lovely meditation technique which is called grounding. There are a lot of versions of this and almost every spiritual practise has its own kind. I will share my take on this. I have been doing it for years and modifying it to fit my own needs. Feel free to accommodate it for yourself. You can practise this meditation anywhere, even in your home, but I recommend going out to nature and finding yourself a tree. The bigger the better.

WHY, WHEN AND HOW TO USE IT

The Earth has a lovely healing quality about her and it can not only teach as a lot but be there for us as a support and a Divine Mother. Even walking barefoot has great benefits for us, mental and spiritual. You can read all about the benefits of walking on ground without your shoes in my post Did you know walking BAREFOOT has health BENEFITS?

Whenever you are in a need of some replenishing and energising, the grounding is the way to go. You will feel more relaxed and ready for all your daily activities that usually drain you out. Grounding is an exercise that will connect you with your inner self again as well as the Earth energies and the present moment itself. Being aware of your body and mind is important and the clarity that arises is beneficial to your well being. By doing this meditation you will experience feelings of connection with all your body parts and get in touch with amazing revelations of time and being one with the Universe. You will become the tree and the nature that is around you. You will become what you already are, everything.

If you are doing this meditation at home try to have your feet on the floor and if you are doing it in nature, sit under the tree with your back straight and leaned against it. In time, you will see that different kinds of trees have a different effect on you. If you are doing this for the first time, try to find an oak tree, beech, maple or olive tree. You can do this meditation with your eyes opened or closed, whatever brings you more comfort. If you are in the forest and surrounded by many trees, keep your eyes open but do not shift your gaze. Look straight forward and blink in a relaxed and natural way. Do not focus on a specific thing in front of you but try instead to have a broad view.

THE GROUNDING

Inhale love, and exhale gratitude...
Sit comfortably, relax your body...
Feel the Earth you are sitting on...
Feel the ground...
Relax your muscles...
Feel the tree behind you...
Feel the support...
Imagine your roots...
Growing from you...
And pushing their way...
To the Earth centre...
From your arms branches...
Reaching for the sky...
Your back becoming...
The tree...
Feel the wind...
Touch the deep soil...
Receive love and...
Receive strength...
Feel the time...
Connect with energies...
Bask in the marvels...
Inhale love, and exhale gratitude...

Post meditation work

You can stay in your meditation for as long as you like and need. It can be 5 minutes or 50, it is up to you and your ability to explore your different mind state. When you are done, do not forget to thank all those lovely energies that participated in your work. Thank your inner self, thank your tree that was there for you and say a special thanks to Earth. This is also the best time to hug a tree and establish a connection of love and gratitude. If you have a chance, go for a little walk and observe nature with a different set of eyes. Look at the animals and plants and see how they are all connected with you. Continue with your planned activities when you are ready and come back to this meditation whenever you need.

Have you ever practised this meditation? Do you have a favourite type of tree you use? Let me know in the comments. Keep your lovely smile on people and enjoy your meditation.

I think I have been doing this without knowing really how to call it. I often go barefoot to the forest, I go to Nature to feel part of it all. It helps me balance. Lovely post as always.

It does not really matter how you call it, the Nature has it way of healing that is bigger than words 💚

I have long been skeptical of any significant benefits from meditation. Listening to a bunch of Sam Harris podcasts, I'm coming around to the possibility. :) Now I just need the time to give it a try.

Thanks for the post!

It is good to hear that you are coming around hihi, good luck! :)

My mind often wonders when I try to meditate. What helps for me is some kind of audio guiding me through it.

Soothing calm music with a soft voice speaking...

Inhale love, and exhale gratitude...
Sit comfortably, relax your body...

Guided meditations are great and can be an excellent way to relax. 💚

It is great to share this. Yoi csn meditate even on your commute to work. Just commitment and relaaaaaaax. Breathing exercises sometimes are all you need! Thank you for sharing

Just do not relax too much since you are driving :D

Thanks for the post @zen-art. I've been following your techniques and it's been fun to try something new with my meditation. I tend to stick to traditional techniques so it's about time I stepped outside that narrow mindset. Keep up the good work and looking forward to more in the future :)

I am happy to hear you tried some of the stuff I wrote about, thank you 💚
