20 questions with Sunny Lenarduzzi

in #life8 years ago

Sunny Lenarduzzi is authentic.

The way she communicates is authentic. Her glass-half-full attitude is authentic. Even her biggest pet peeve relates to people who are inauthentic (see question 15).

And along with her genuine nature, Sunny hustles harder than most. The video marketing expert has built a YouTube subscriber list of more than 70,000, and has amassed tens of thousands of followers on other social media networks such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

Wondering how to make videos the right way? Or how to get more followers? Or how to be your own boss? Don't worry... Sunny has a video for that.

Today's 20 questions is for the reader who wants to take their online presence to the next level. And as Sunny explains in her YouTube channel feature video: It might be scary. People might think it's stupid. And you might fail. But, "F*** that. Doesn't freedom sound better than fear?"

1 - How would you describe yourself in one sentence?

Sunny - The most positive person you'll ever meet.

2 - What's the best thing about being your own boss?

Sunny - Freedom.

3 - What's the most challenging thing about being your own boss?

Sunny - Delegating and letting go of control.

4 - Social media is constantly changing. What's your trick for staying on top of the latest trends?

Sunny - I set up search streams on Hootsuite to track the biggest social and tech press and that helps me stay on top of the latest news and updates.

5 - How has your journalism background helped you get to where you are today?

Sunny - I think it's my love of authentic communication that's helped me grow at the rate that I have. And being a journalist you have to think on the go and be crafty with your resources, so that has definitely helped me pass certain limits and roadblocks as an entrepreneur.

6 - What would you say to a business owner who still isn't convinced that video is important?

Sunny - What's really holding you back? Saying NO to video is basically saying no to free traffic and a customer magnet.

7 - What advice would you give to someone who wants to do video; however, is nervous to stand in front of the camera?

Sunny - It's not about you or your ego. The more your content can help your target audience, the more successful it will be. It doesn't matter how you look or sound, it matters how much your content and knowledge can impact your viewers.

8 - What advice would you give to someone who feels like they "missed the boat" when it comes to social media?

Sunny - It's not going anywhere! Hop aboard!

9 - I understand your first online business—If He Only Knew—aimed to educate men on what women want from a woman's point of view. Looking back, what were the top 3 things your 22-year-old self wanted men to know?

Sunny -

  1. If you don't have trust, you don't have anything.

  2. Chivalry is not dead.

  3. Relationships take work, if you're not willing to keep the spark alive, then please just blow it out.

10 - Of all your accomplishments to date, which are you the proudest of?

Sunny - My biggest success is the community I’ve built of thousands of entrepreneurs with the Be Your Own Boss Mastermind on Facebook. That group is my definition of success. It’s a movement and it’s people supporting one another in following their dreams.

11 - What scares you?

Sunny - Not much.

12 - Who inspires you?

Sunny - My mom and my dad.

13 - Who is your favourite Vancouver Whitecaps player?

Sunny - Bob Lenarduzzi - DUH!!

14 - I hear you'll dance to hip hop: anywhere, anytime. What is your favourite hip hop track to dance to? (Both currently and all-time)

Sunny - Oh man, there are so many! I'm currently LOVING Big Sean - bounce back. And of all time? I mean, you gotta throw it back to save the last dance with "You Can Do It" - Ice Cube feat. Mack 10 & Ms. Toi.

15 - What's your biggest pet peeve?

Sunny - Flaky people. Commit or don't.

16 - Where do you see yourself five years from now?

Sunny - Running an empire from my home with a healthy and happy family.

17 - If you could only stay on one social media network—other than YouTube—and you had to delete all of your other accounts, which would you stay on?

Sunny - OTHER THAN YOUTUBE?! Facebook. Because Zuck rules the world.

18 - You get to have dinner with three people, living or dead. Who are you eating with?

Sunny - Oprah, Marie Forleo, Michael Jordan

19 - What's your guilty pleasure?

Sunny - Candy. I don't have it in my house because I lack self control, lol.

20 - What is one thing very few people know about you?

Sunny - I had heart surgery when I was 18.

Brilliant interview. I think I really need to start using Hootsuite myself.

I like it, but don't use it as much as I should.

I'm not a big social media "scheduler," but Hootsuite is a nice one-stop shop for managing several social media accounts at once.

So would it be any use for me? I really use Twitter most of the time and only go to FB and others if I have to.

I think so. Like Sunny mentioned, you can set up search streams to keep on top of what you're interested in.

OK will give it a go when I have a moment.

Thumbs up on this. Great information from a very successful communicator!

Agreed! Sunny knows her stuff :)

What a great read! Thanks for doing such a great job, Wade, and bringing amazing people like Sunny to the platform.
To me the very first answer already killed it. Viva positivism! :)
Upped and resteemed

Thanks for reading :)

I agree: Positivity is everything.

"My biggest success is the community I’ve built of thousands of entrepreneurs "

I think that's an amazing thing, when not only you grow but you have a community with you and grow together. :)

Such a great interview!

Thank you Sunny and thank you Wade!

Thanks for checking this out!

Great interview!

Take home message (at least for me): the community is the key to success :)

Very interesting interview! I never heard about her, but after this inteview and the part of"The most positive person you'll ever meet." I really need to know her! Thanks so much ^_^

Interesting...I had never heard of her.

She's crushing it online! I think it's only a matter of time until she's a household name.

She isn't too hard on the eyes either!

Thanks for the great interview and post. Just discovering your site, and I really enjoy your style of interview, very enjoyable to read. You've obviously got this down to a fine art. Thanks again.

Wow. Thanks for that compliment. I love what I do :)

I can see why. Interacting with all sorts of folks from all over. "Fascinating".
