The Interview Showcase #37 - Exclusive Talk with Crypto - analyst/ Korean Blogger
Hello Folks,
It's The Interview Showcase!!!. with your host ubongudofot...This is the 37th Edition of “The interview Showcase...." and my Seventh show for 2023!
A lifestyle program that comes with many educational values. A weekly interview of top users/users in the blog concerning some trending topics on the Steemit platform. And tips that can help other Steemians to progress positively and help boost the Steem’s growth.
It will help you to get to know more about Steemians around the globe and even Steemit itself.
I take time to look at some of the most important topics in the blockchain and have a chat/call with top Steemians who have a greater idea about those topics.
They also share some tips that are able to help other users to understand the blockchain and make use of it in the correct way. Sometimes they seek some valuable suggestions here which can help them solve some of their challenges.
This week Is very Interesting because I had a conversation with a member of the @dev.supporters team, who is working as CDR for the Steem DIP team. He is working with UPVU's co-founders as well and this will be the first time I feature someone from the Korean community. I guess this will open access to other users from the Korean world...
@donekim is in the Building....!!!
🔶Donekim: Hello @ubongudofot, first of all thank you for having me as one of the big fans of "Interview Showcase". I started to be interested in blockchain technology and crypto from 2016 and was a subscriber to various content uploaded to Steemit, the first blockchain-based social network platform at the time.
I joined Steemit in January 2018 with the intention of sharing what I am learning with people every day, and I can't believe it's already been 6 years. Although many people have left Steemit and the status of Steem is not the same as before, I was able to meet good people and make good connections here.
🔶Donekim: Originally, I wanted to use the ID done, but since the ID was already in use, I added my last name and created the ID donekim. I used the account done because it has the same pronunciation as "the one", but some people ask me if it's short for Decentralized One.
🔶Donekim: The best moment for me is always "now". I have met great colleagues, life mentors, business partners, and friends on Steemit. The worst moment was when I first joined Steemit and wrote hard for months, but no one cared about my writing.
🔶Donekim: Personally, I don't really like offline meetups. So I've never participated in Steemfest. However, apart from my preference, offline events are effective in that they serve as a driving force for strengthening the community.
🔶Donekim: The hard fork of Steem and Hive is likely to remain as one of the worst tragedies in blockchain history. But at the same time, it also showed the possibility of how a blockchain-based system can continue to live. Hard forks are living proof that equally designed systems can evolve differently depending on who manages them and how. At the time, the Steem blockchain network went through an end-of-life crisis, but it survived as well as it does today, and for that, I am grateful to all participants.
🔶Donekim: I prefer honest and optimistic people. I think the most important thing in human relationships is trust and inspiration to develop together. So it seems that I try to get close to honest and optimistic people and get a better influence from them.
🔶Donekim: The greatest strength of my personality is that I am a patient and steady person. I've been uploading at least 1 piece of content per day since joining Steemit until now. Thanks to this, I have a lot of knowledge about blockchain technology and the crypto market.
🔶Donekim: Recently, there was an offline meetup of the Korean Steam community, and it was the first time I participated in an official Steemit community meetup. I was able to meet a lot of new people with pure passion on the spot, and I was able to hear what dreams they have and how they are using Steemit to achieve those dreams. Thanks to this, I could feel that Steemit is more than just a meeting of investors using tokens as a medium, and it was like a gift for me.
🔶Donekim: I have a lot of interest in technology trends, including blockchain and AI, as well as early-stage investments, startups, and social media. So, I get knowledge and inspiration from good articles on Twitter, Medium, Substack, Ghost blog, etc. Sometimes, my colleagues who are active in the startup industry become good mentors for me.
Like many others, recently ChatGPT has been a real shocker. So many jobs will be replaced by AI in the near future, and we need to seriously think about what jobs only humans can do.
🔶Donekim: I know it's a very obvious answer, but of course it's Seoul. Seoul is so crowded and complicated, but there are so many things to enjoy and meet. Seoul is good for experiencing Korean traditional culture, but it is also a place where the night is more colorful than in any other city in the world. If you are visiting Korea as a tourist, not a journalist, I will take you to another city.
🔶Donekim: I would like to advise them not to use too much energy from the beginning and to work steadily even if it is slow. It takes time for your hard work and time to get noticed, and social media is where consistency is your greatest asset.
🔶Donekim: Actually, I'm not a developer and I had no intention of running as a Steam Witness candidate. However, at the time of the hard fork, the main witnesses were preparing to power off the node as a group, and it was a very urgent crisis situation in which the Steem blockchain network itself could be completely shut down if it remained silent. At least 15 Steem nodes had to be turned on to maintain the network, so I quickly teamed up with my fellow Steem community members to join the Witness Nodes.
🔶Donekim: Early on, I was very excited to be one of the nodes that were able to keep the Steem blockchain alive. Over time, however, I gradually realized that as a Witness I did not contribute as much as I thought. Connecting the Steemit Team and the community to communicate, sharing important events happening in the global community, working to develop what users want, kicking out scarecrow witnesses, and supporting the hard-working witness team I think it's something we can do. As a witness, I think the most exciting thing is being able to communicate and collaborate with people I've never actually met.
🔶Donekim: I am currently a member of the @dev.supporters team, working as CDR for Steem DIP with team member @glory7. @dev.supporters has developed a service that allows Korean users to sign up for Steemit more easily with an SNS account called KakaoTalk, and has supported the Korean developer community and Steempunks community. I'm also working with UPVU's co-founders @realmankwon and @happyberrysboy. In addition to the UPVU service, we launched an NFT project called Steempunks, an NFT marketplace called Steemsquad, and recently launched a third-party front-end called upvu.org.
Currently, our team is operating a chrome extension wallet called Steem keychain, and anyone can easily and conveniently create a Steem account through Steem keychain. (It's much easier and simpler than Steemit signup, but many people don't seem to know it yet.) We have a plan to develop a proper mobile wallet and authentication service with external developers through Steem DIP, which is our own. It is a very big thing that is difficult to achieve through hard work. So, we are looking forward to the interest and support from the Steemit Team.
🔶Donekim: To be honest, I don't know if Koreans will be able to actively communicate with the global community in the future due to the language barrier. It is true that Korea is a non-English-speaking country and many people still have difficulty writing, reading and speaking in English. However, among the newly onboarded Korean community members, there are more and more English-speaking people, so I'm hoping that things will change little by little.
🔶Donekim: It is very unfortunate that the Steemit Team has not made any announcement regarding this even though TRX rewards have not been paid normally for about 3 months. Personally, I guess that rather than a technical problem, the TRX reward could not be paid to prevent further price decline of TRX because the cryptocurrency market at the time entered an endless bear market and the USDD peg was broken. I have expressed my thoughts on this issue in my own post.
🔶Donekim: I usually listen to music while driving, so I like K-pop, band music, and hip-hop. I don't seem to have a particular favorite genre of music.
🔶Donekim: I haven't been to Africa yet. If I have a chance, I would like to go to Egypt or Morocco. One of my friends has traveled the world for about 3 years, and the countries he missed the most in Africa were Egypt and Morocco. Of course, I really want to go to Nigeria where you are!
🔶Donekim: I am looking forward to seeing the following 3 changes on the Steemit platform.
- Adding other utilities to STEEM other than voting
- Building a mobile device-friendly infrastructure
- Influx of new token holders and communities resulting in generational change
If we focus too much on good quality content and upvoting, Steemit will become too serious and the community will become jealous of each other, which will eventually lead to community division. Not everyone needs to create good content, which is impossible. Steemit should be a little lighter, less burdensome, and a place to enjoy.
🔶Donekim: I think Interview Showcase can be a great mediator for many Korean community members to communicate with the global community. Starting with me, I look forward to interviewing many members of the Korean community with you. If there is a member you want, I will be happy to connect you.
🔶Donekim: For the Steemit community to grow, we need to create better playgrounds for people to play. And in order to create a better playground, I think more developers from outside should be brought into the Steem ecosystem. Currently, Steem has no incentive system to attract developers, and Steem DIP has not had any update news for 3 months. Of course, marketing and voting are important, but activating a program that can attract developers is something that only the Steemit Team can do. We shouldn't expect developers to volunteer themselves. I hope that the current situation where there is no technological advancement and support will not continue.
🔶Donekim: Your interview show was really informative and impressive. I really applaud your dedication. After receiving the interview questions, I was able to see how much research was done to formulate the questions, and I did my best to answer your questions wholeheartedly (even though there were more questions than I expected haha).
I hope that through the interview show, we can all get to know each other a little more and communicate more. It was a really good time for me too. Thank you sincerely.
I hope you enjoy the Show...? Do you think I am missing something? Please feel free to tell me, let's make this better every day. Share your suggestions with me, I'll so much appreciate it.
