Playing the Sims: Yet more Birthdays… Oh, and Fish!!

Victoria, and Jack Steem are my Sim Girl legacy challenge Sims. If you are not familiar with the challenge you can find it at Sim Legacy Challenge. This challenge is to basically start your Sim out on a huge lot, with little to no money, and then play the household for 10 generations on this land. There are many stipulations, and rules for the challenge. You can find these rules by following the link.

Carolyn is the next to turn from a toddler into a little girl. She is the first to be able to celebrate their birthday with a cake! It was too bad that the rest of the family was sleeping, and Jack was about to pass out from lack of sleep, but she had a party!

I even caught a picture of them blowing out the candles!

I picked Carolyn’s trait this time and gave her creativity aspiration, and the art lover trait. The art lover trait will give Carolyn powerful moodlets from viewing works of art, she will be able to admire art and talk about art in unique ways.

Here is Carolyn, all by herself after midnight, eating her birthday cake. Hopefully they will be able to have birthdays in this house from now on.

As soon as your toddler blows out the candles, they will give you the menu for their trait and aspiration, and then they will transform into a kid.

If the parent Sims takes good care of the toddler, you will have the choice of choosing the trait. When choosing the traits, you should decide the skills associated with the traits, and then try to provide that skill building item in the home. For now, Carolyn can draw on the creativity center, until she gets older, and will be able to paint from the easel.

She will build her creativity skill while she ages, so that she will have a jump start to any career she may want to pursue when she becomes a young adult.

It took a while to get everyone ready to go fishing on Saturday. But I finally got them down by the creek for some family fishing. Angelica did not want anything to do with fishing. The others had a blast, and were able to raise their fishing skills.

Josette has a sad buff because she isn’t wearing her bear suit.

The girls are also able to catch some good paying fish! I sent them down to the creek, to catch some fish for fertilizing the plants; figuring that they would only catch little fish because of their low fishing levels. But, they caught a few big fishes, and it dawned on me…

I can make money with these kids!!!

Jack reached level 7 in his fishing skill. It says he can now catch a mysterious fish, that lurks in the depths of each fishing spot.

While I was expanding the Steem home, I noticed that the Sims 4 added new roofing options in the build mode. They now have hexagonal (6), octagonal (8), pentagonal (5), and circular roof pieces that can be used.

I'm not sure if these new roof options are from the new Parenthood game pack, or a recent patch in the Sims 4 game.

This is cool because we have been restricted to using the hip and gable roof options. Now we will be able to make some gazebos and other outdoor buildings, which we could use these shaped roofs.

I sent Victoria to the kitchen to bake yet another birthday cake for Jack, because it said he had one more day until he aged to elder. I checked Jack’s age to be sure it was time to age him, and guess what??

He’s not aging. Sigh.

At least there will be more cake in the house to eat. This time she is making blue confetti cake!

The bills have arrived again. This time the bills are over $800. When you add to the house, by either building the house, or adding items to the home; the way I have been, your bills will increase as well. To keep the bills low, you can move into a smaller home and lot, or sell some of the items in the home.

Jack did finally age up to be an elder. It was a little later than expected, but not very much.

When your Sim ages up to be an elder, you will need to take extra care of their basic needs. They will need to rest more often, and will also need to use the bathroom more often. By the time your Sim reaches elder age, they will have also racked up a few reward points from fulfilling their desires.

If you have not use the reward points yet, this would be a good time to use them. They cannot use the points after they are gone, and they will not have another stage of life before they die. You will have to be sure they do not do too much work now, because they will get winded, and get tired faster.

If your Sim has a job, they can now take a retirement pay, and then find a part time job, if they desire. Or, they can live out the rest of their days building their skills, and taking steps to reach their life goals.

I decided to pick the Steel Bladder from Jack’s reward store to buy for his retirement. The steel bladder makes it, so Jack will rarely need to worry about his bladder need. This reward costs 2000 reward points of his 2505 available points.

You can find your reward points, and the reward store, by clicking on your Sim’s aspiration menu; or the very first icon on the bottom right-hand side of your controls. The best rewards cost 4000 reward points. You will need to take steps toward your Sim’s life goal, and satisfy their desires, to earn reward points during your Sim’s life, and earn the top rewards in the store.

To reach his life goal, Jack must achieve level 10 in gardening. He is at level 9. He must grow a cowplant. He will need to go fishing again to fish up a cowplant berry, and he will need to evolve 10 excellent plants. Plants will sparkle when they are ready to be evolved. You can mouse over the plants to see the condition. Plants must be well taken care of to become excellent.

I hope you have learned a little more about playing the Sims 4. The main objective of the game is for your Sim to reach their life goal. When they do that, they will achieve the reward trait for that aspiration. When playing the legacy challenge, you can start small, and then build your legacy over a matter of 10 generations. I have been dissecting each of the days in this challenge, but the time will go faster, when you play on your own.
