Creation of A Sim: An Outfit for Every Occasion

I was hoping to move on to building homes, but I realized there is another feature of Create a Sim that I overlooked; the other outfits in their life.

Sims will choose to wear their everyday clothes around the house, or after they take a shower. But when they do other activities such as going to bed, or working out, they dress in the appropriate clothing.

You will be given the option to change these outfits now. Or, you can choose not to worry about it. You may not even notice until your Sim goes to bed, and they start walking around the house in their underwear. If you are particular about having your Sim in a beautiful, matching outfit for every occasion, you will want to pick your own outfits when you create your Sim.

You have the option to pick out your Sim's formal attire by clicking on the tie icon. Sims will dress up in formal wear anytime they are invited to a fancy party, or a wedding. When your Sim throws a party, they have the option to make the party formal. Sometimes, you just want to watch television in your tiara. We are not here to judge. You can also set the hairstyle, and the make-up to match the outfit.

The athletic attire can be chosen by clicking on the soccer ball icon. You can then choose to match a top and bottom, or use a full body outfit. You can change the shoes, and add accessories to make your Sim look sporty. Any time your Sim works out, exercises, or goes jogging, they will change into the outfit you choose here.

Sims will change their clothes automatically when they go to sleep. You can choose the outfit your Sim will sleep in, by clicking on the moon and stars icon. You can choose to match the top and bottoms, or pick from a full body ensemble. You can also pick out slippers. If you do not like their outfit after you have made your Sim, you can change your Sim, by clicking on a mirror, or a dresser. Doing this will open Create a Sim, and will allow you to choose new default clothing.

Sims love to party, and they will need a special outfit for this occasion. Who wants to show up at a party in their everyday clothes? Not your Sim, that’s for sure! You can open the party clothes option, by clicking on the balloons icon. You can then choose to dress your Sim up to party. You may notice after playing a while, that a Sim you made previously, is showing up to parties your new Sims are attending. You want to make sure they look good.

The last icon is an inflatable, floating device. Click this icon to open the bathing suits. You can mix and match tops, bottoms, and one-piece bathing suits, or you may choose to pick a generated suit from the styled looks. You cannot wear shoes or hats when you are swimming, but you can accessorize with rings and bracelets. Sims can go swimming when they have access to a swimming pool. If they own a pool, they can invite other Sims for a pool party. Sims will automatically change into their bathing suits when they go swimming.

If you really like making outfits for your Sim, you can click the arrow above any icon, and add new outfits to each category. This may save you time if you decide that you want to wear a new outfit, but do not want to make it from scratch. The additional outfit menu will be available to you when you change your outfit in front of a mirror, or at a dresser.

If you have gone through the trouble of selecting an outfit for every occasion, you will want to save your Sim as soon as you can. That way, you do not lose your progress. Selecting Sim outfits is fun, and with more expansions and stuff packs from Sims 4, you can find the perfect outfit for your Sim.
