Beer of the Day #27 finally - Augustinerkeller

It has been long since I posted my last Beer Post - a shame as this was my first ongoing series. Today is also Beer Saturday by the awesome @detlev so a good reason to write about this again. Hereby I am introducing you a Beer location in the city Center of Munich, quite famous even outside the City.

Augustinerkeller & Beer

As you can imagine here you drink Augustiner - THE Munich Beer. Usually when we have international guests this is the place to go in Summer - I really try to avoid the Hofbräuhaus. Just last week we had some friend and colleagues over and enjoyed a nice warm summer evening there (see them in the photos). That is the story, short and simple. We did enjoy some Augustiner Helles (5.2%), a pale lager that is given a prolonged secondary fermentation served in a true Bavarian Maßkrug: The Maß or Mass is the Bavarian language word describing the amount of beer in a regulation mug, in modern times exactly 1 litre (33.8 US fl oz).

The Augustiner Keller started in 1812 as a beer repository owned by the Büchl brewery. Since 1880 the location operates under the name Augustinerkeller. Probably every celebrity that visited our City has been there. It includes a huge beer hall and an even huger beer garden. The beer garden is full of chestnut trees that give a cooling atmosphere on a hot summer day. Usually you enjoy some drinks which has to be a litre of Augustiner straight from the barrel . In addition you have to try some of the delicacies which are so typical for Bavaria. You met everyone there - a perfect view over the Munich population structure can be handled there.
