Special Edition - Beer of the Day #10 - Hot Beer (incl. German summary for friends)

Special Beer Edition inspired by some Germans that caught the flu recently. Other Germans recommended to drink Warm Beer - oh well my mother-in-law is also recommending this. I used to reject usage so far. 

To me until today the meaning of hot / warm beer could be described by the visuals below:

But I was wrong maybe - so I started a bit research. And I found some interesting stuff. While the ordinary beer drinker - I consider myself as one - is used to drink his beer cold to Super Cold especially during the summer months there are also other beer trends around especially for Winter. People drink hot wine so why not at least think of a hot or warm beer? I still thought "Pfui" which is the German word for "disgusting".

During the 18th century in the US a cocktail trend called "The flip" was hot. The Flip was a famous colonist beverage these days and is a blend of warm ale, booze, sugar, spice, lemon and egg yolk. Even George Washington was a proven Flip Fan! In the past times hot iron pokers had been used to heat the beer (which then frothed or “flipped”), nowadays a saucepan on the stove will do too.

Here a flip recipe

Ingredients:

12 ounces pale ale

1 1⁄2 ounces lemon juice

1 tablespoon granulated sugar

1⁄4 teaspoon ground ginger

1⁄4 teaspoon cinnamon

1 ounce brandy or dark rum

1 egg yolk (optional)

Instructions:

1. Heat 4 ounces of the ale with the lemon juice, sugar, ginger and cinnamon in a saucepan over medium heat until the sugar has fully dissolved. Remove from heat.

2. In a large bowl, vigorously beat the brandy or rum with the egg yolk. Add the beer mixture and whisk thoroughly to combine. Transfer to a large glass or beer mug and top with the remaining ale, stir well and serve.

Hallo Freunde des kalten Bieres - nachdem ich im Steemit Chat von mehreren deutschen Steemianer auf Warmes Bier hingewiesen wurde und dessen heilenden Effekt - ich weiss gar nicht mehr wer es war - @jaki01 und @HomeArtPictures waren auf jeden Fall involviert (mein Chat scrolled nicht mehr nach oben irgendwie.....) hier ein Post zum Thema, passend oder nicht - das ist eine Special Bier Edition, hoffe Ihr könnt damit was anfangen.
