Maibock - wer mag es deutsche Steem-Freunde?

Liebe Freunde des Bieres - nach 3 Wochen Bierpause hier mal ein Post passend zur Jahreszeit - der Mai und sein Maibock. Was sind Eure Favoriten? Mögt Ihr Bockbier generell? Ich bin ja eher der Weißbier / Weizen Fraktion zuzurechnen aber im Mai auch dem Frühlingsbier nicht abgeneigt.

Beer in May - Maibock

Steemians - after vacation and three weeks without a Beer post it is time again! In the month of May a special beer is brewed across Germany - the Maibock. A lot breweries jump on this obviously offering their own Beer.

What is a Bock Beer?

Bock Beer is a strong lager (making you tired if you drink too much....) of German origin with several substylesuch as doppelbock, eisbock and maibock belonging to the group of dark beer. Bock style beer is very popular in Germany and Bavria in particular.

What is Maibock?

The maibock beer is officially a helles lager brewed to bock strength but lighter in colour including more hop as usual beer. The beer is associated with springtime and the month of May. Alcohol content ranges from 6.3% to 7.4% by volume and the flavour is typically less malty than a traditional bock. The most known special Maibock brands include Ayinger Maibock, Mahr’s Bock, Hacker-Pschorr Hubertus Bock, Capital Maibock, Einbecker Mai-Urbock, Hofbräu Maibock, Victory St. Boisterous, Gordon Biersch Blonde Bock, Smuttynose Maibock, Old Dominion Brewing Company Big Thaw Bock, Franconia Brewing Company Maibock Ale, Church Street maibock, and Tröegs Cultivator.

Mönchshof Maibock

Mönchshof is a brewery from Kulmbach in Bavaria in the meantime part of the bigger local Kulmbacher Brauerei (since 1984). Originally most of the traditional beer in Germany has been brewed by monks. During the centuries they have produced numerous recipes that still constitute the unique taste of the Mönchshof Beer these days. No need for a special mention all beer is still based on Bavarian purity law.

The Mönchshof Maibock is to me one of the best Maibock Beers I know -you certainly need to be a fan though of this though. The Beer is usually served in a dimpled mug, Stein during the month of May with an ABV of 6.9%.
