Throwback Poem-Off: It changes nothing [original poem]
Welcome to the poem-off.
Read my partner-in-poems, @mitchelljaworski's last entry here: Like a Flower
And my response below...
It changes nothing
except
well, everything
but the things that are me
(Although you
are part of me now)
And I have changed too.
My dreams are the same -
but no, now there's you
to fill that "what if" space -
the variable, the unknown,
And I am happier,
although still searching.
What remains is...
my drive
my desire to grow,
but now a friend
to help with that
and remind me why
I wanted to at all.
Remind me of
the point in all this.
That has changed -
my faith restored,
my joy reborn.
So, nothing really
has changed at all,
except for -
my life.
What's a poem-off, you ask? Just a little thang that started a little bit ago. I read a poem that @mitchelljaworski posted, from his old-school writing days. It reminded me of all of my old-school poems, so I challenged him to see if we could go turn-for-turn and repost long lost words from the vaults of time. No rules apply, and new stuff might just make the mix. Check it out, y'all. Follow the links down the rabbit hole...

Oooh, this one hits home and sounds like a yearning of my heart.
Aww, yay! Thanks, Kubby.
Love is life
You can definitely say that.

Ah, I see it is time for me to go digging in the archives again :-)
I was all over the place while looking at my poems, from lovey dovey to angry and then I stumbled across the one I just posted. Felt like a great fit and is pliable for many a topic :-)
