The Lost Lighthouse and the Sexy Greek

It was so beautiful out,

the sun was shining and the water was calm. The boys were fishing off the back of the boat, while I discreetly sunbathed. I had thought about swimming, but decided against it when we spotted a whale, not but 40 yards from the boat. As cool as that was, I definitely did not feel like swimming in the water after that. So I accepted that tanning was okay with me, even if I had to a topical on every ten seconds so as not to burn.

Caught in a time warp, hours later, it still felt like a tropical paradise. Alex had caught a couple of fish, and Kries was cooking it below deck for our sunset dinner. As I set the table, I looked out at the horizon; the sunset on the water was so beautiful. About fifteen minutes later, Kris came and set food down on the table. It smelled so good.

“The fish looks great, but what is it?”

I stared at his food. It was clearly exotic, which was a bit intimidating, but it smelled so amazing I found myself reaching for it.

“Well its spicy lime fish, with beans and rice, wrapped inside a cornmeal shell. It’s something Alex and I ates down in South America. It tastes really good.”

I smiled, and as soon as he turned around, I grabbed a finger full of the fish and tried it. It was good!

“Mmm!” I exclaimed.

Kries flipped around, and caught me red handed, as I attempted to grab another piece. I froze and dropped the piece I had in my fingers.

“Did you just…”

He looked at my fingers and then the bowl, and the fish on the table where it had dropped. I started laughing. I quickly grabbed the fish off the table and ate it, and turned to run, when I realized there was nowhere to run to. I turned back around to see Kries blocking my path, with a cute little smirk on his face. After seconds of pondering on thoughts of what to do, I finally decided it best if I just sit down at the table, and forfeit. Laughing, Kries leaned in and kissed me.

“I love you.”

“Yeah, yeah. I love you too.”

I pushed him away, defeated.

He laughed, loving my pout face. After saying grace, I found myself extremely parched. I went to take a sip of water and realized we had none on the table.

“Would anyone else like some water?”

“Sure, thank you dear,” said Alex.

“I'll get it,” Kries offered.

“No, I got it baby. I’ll be right back.”

I leaned down and kissed him.

I walked down the stairs and found a pitcher in the very small kitchenette. I found cold, fresh water, and filled the pitcher up. As I was walking back up the stairs, I noticed how many stars were out. I paused right before the top of the stairs, it was so beautiful. There was nothing quite as beautiful as the stars at night on the water. I took that moment as my opportunity to make a wish, little known to me Kries was within earshot.

“Stars alight, stars are bright, first of many stars I see tonight, wish I may, wish I might, have the wish, I wish tonight. I wish that no matter what happens, Kries and I will always be, as in love as we are right now, and that we will never give up on each other, even if it gets harder than it has been before. Amen.”

I wiped tears off my cheeks.

As I continued up the stairs, I looked up, only to find Kries waiting for me at the top.

“You spent a wish on something I already know will come trues. You should have asked for wings...my angel.”

Kries leaned down and kissed me. I smiled and we walked back to the table. Halfway through dinner, I felt something stirring...but no one else seemed to notice.

“Do you smell that?” I asked.

Both boys stopped to smell.

“No. What do you smell?”

Kries tried to smell the air again.

“It’s rain,” Alex answered gravely.

“Oh, no.”

Kries turned to Alex for directions.

“Kries, steer us home immediately,” Alex ordered.

Kries immediately got up and moved to the wheel. I couldn’t help but feel panicky, but I wasn't entirely sure why.

“Baby, what’s happening?” I cried out.

“A storm is coming and fast. We have to get as close to home as we can as soon as possibles,” he called out to me over his shoulder.

When the storm hit, it was so fast

that I barely remember it. Waves came smashing down, five minutes into the storm and knocked me out of the boat. I screamed for Kries, until I couldn’t see the boat anymore. The waves just kept washing into me, making it hard to breathe. I kept screaming for someone to help me, and kept trying to swim towards something, anything. I felt the water filling my lungs, and I began to see spots. Then I blacked out and woke up on a beach the next morning. There was a man standing over me. He was an incredibly muscular, attractive man with caramel skin color.

“Are you a Hatfield?” I asked groggily.

“What did you just say?”

He leaned over me; I recall he had a slight accent.

“You are aren’t you? You don’t have any hair, but if you did, I bet it would be black.”

I sat up, feeling dizzy.

“Yes, I am. But I don’t understand how you would know that, you’re not a Hatfield.”

He helped me stand up.

“I’m engaged to one, Kries Hatfield. And how do you know, I am not a Hatfield? Do Hatfield’s like all have a glow, or what?”

I limped slightly as he started guiding me into a walking motion.

“A glow? Very funny… Kries! Wait a second, you’re Clara… you defeated Dumitro!”

He beamed.

“Well... aided in banishing him at any rate.”

It was then that I looked up. A beautiful lighthouse stood before me, as our obvious destination, covered in green vines, and moss.

“Is this where you live?” I asked in awe.

There were bird nests in the trees nearby, and everything was green, and fresh. It was so alive, so fairy-like.

“Yes... it’s my wonderful little secret.”

I looked at him, confused. This wasn’t little, and how could a lighthouse be a secret.

“You see this lighthouse is hidden by those two giant cliffs.”

He pointed out to the water,

back the way we had come, where we could see two cliffs blocking view from the rest of the ocean.

“It was a horrible spot to put a lighthouse, as the light hits the cliff not the water, so it doesn’t help any ships. That’s why it’s a secret, it can’t be seen.”

“Oh great,” I sighed.

“What?”

He looked at me concerned.

“How is Kries ever going to find me now?”

I let a few tears fall down my cheeks.

“Come on. I’m sure you’ll find a way to let him know where you are. If you could withstand Dumitro, you can do more than you think.”

He walked me inside the secret lighthouse.

One moment I was sitting on a bed he had laid out for me, listening to Emery talk about the life of a man living in a lighthouse, and the next I was out like a light.

When I woke up it was dark outside. There was a warm fire going and I could see Emery sitting in the dark smoking from a wooden pipe. I sat up, and smelled something delicious cooking.

“What is that? It smells delicious.”

I sniffed the air curiously, realizing how hungry I was.

“It’s deer stew. There is a well stocked forest near here. It is a great, and old recipe from my grandfather."

He served me up a bowl. As I ate, I couldn’t help but think of Alex and Kries.

'Why does this always happen to me? How am I going to tell Kries where I am? It's not like he can read my mind…'

"Itna!" I shouted out loud.
