Hello Steemers! I'm a 19 years old programmer with 5+ years of experience and I analyzed the TOP-1000 Steemit Posts of all time. Part 1
Around the age of 14, I started working as a game developer for a small russian game studio. It was a start of my career as a programmer. In the next years, I learned Django with React (I even submitted a few small patches to them!) and moved from russian companies and game development to web and Upwork (Odesk).
But in fact, all my life I have been dreaming about financial independence and working on own projects. I always tried to minimize work hours to my clients and maximize them for my own projects. What is the result? Well, I am 19 years old and I created 7 own projects. More accurately, I created 7 failed projects — all of them closed.
But it is just about probabilities. And someday after another failed project, you will get the first successful. Or No. Anyway, I want to keep trying and I think that the blockchain is really a revolution technology. So now I think that my next project will be blockchain-related and therefore I read a lot about all blockchain-related startups and their technologies. I think that Steemit is one of the most promising projects with the great potential.
It is my story and reason to register on Steemit. I think that more details will be uninteresting to the community but if you want it then tell me and I will post the full story.
Data
But hey, now you know who I am but I still do not know who are you. Of course, I did read the white paper, the last few weeks did continuously reading the trending and hot posts, did study a few dozens of posts with statistics, analytics, and ratings (special thanks to @paulag, @arcange, @chinadaily, and @penguinpablo; your posts are amazing!). But I believe that the best way to really understand the community is viewing the most popular posts of all time. It was a surprise but I did not find any relevant tools and even posts with similar analytics. So I decided to make my own analyze. In addition, right now this post is too short and does not have any really useful information to readers.
Top posts
Top 10 posts by number of upvotes
Top 10 posts by number of comments
Top 10 posts by number of author payouts
Top 10 posts by number of curators payouts
Average data
But we can go deeper and calculate the average data. This data has several interesting facts.
- The most commented and upvoted posts have significantly fewer payouts. It means that in most cases you can get many upvotes by getting attention from people with low Steem Power but if you want a high reward then you need to write non-mass content which may be of interest to people with high Steem Power.
- The most commented posts have more payouts compared to the most upvoted.
- The posts with the most curators payouts have fewer comments and upvotes in comparison with posts which have the most author payouts.
Top categories
How about more understanding of categories?
- If we talk about author payouts then Steem and Steemit have the large gap from other categories.
- In the most commented posts, it is even more!
- The most upvoted posts have the most smooth gaps.
Top authors
Ok, now I better understand Steemit. But I also want to know about the best authors. Which users have more than one post in the TOP-1000?
Bonus
The next step
In the next part, I will talk about the distribution of votes by time and give an answer to the question «what is the best day of a week and an hour to publish posts». You can follow me to not miss this post.
Also, I need your advice. What post do you want to see in the future? I thought about analyzing sentiment of posts and comments. What do you think about it?
Welcome to steemit!
I know that steemit may seem very overwhelming to you right now but don't worry. There's a learning curve to everything so just be patient and you'll be churning out posts and becoming a part of something great in no time!
Also if there are any questions that you may have, then just ask your questions on any of my blog posts or in a reply below and I'll be more than happy to assist you with whatever questions you may have! I will also be creating a basic starting out guide for all minnows and newcomers on my blog so do give it a read as that might help answer many of your questions!
Have fun and I wish you LOADS of success on here! :)
Also. you can call upon originalworks whenever something you post is your own content like this: @originalworks
