The Snake The Cross The Crown was in my head upon waking this morning
When I was younger, I never really understood why my dad would wake up so early every day, even on weekends when he didn't have to. Well, now I can certainly say I understand why. My body just won't usually let me sleep past about 5:30 am. Today, I woke up closer to 4:30. It is what it is, I suppose! If I sit on the couch in the evening, though, I immediately start to fall asleep. Just like my dad.
Anyway, that doesn't really have much to do with much.
This band was great. I saw them live once before this album came out and I thought they were called The Snake That Crossed The Crown. They're kind of a weird band. They started off pretty much doing the emo thing, then got a little more spacey but still pretty loud. Then they did an Americana-ish record, which is this one. I think they were disappointed that they didn't find more success, but I wonder if they look back now and can kind of see why. They changed their sound pretty significantly in a short period of time, and then when they finally found a great sound, they called it quits shortly thereafter.
This post is part of an ongoing series in which I document the songs which are in my head immediately upon waking.
I don't know if this is something that is common with everyone or not, but I seemingly wake up with a song already in my head every single morning.
There is often no reason why it should be there. I hadn't heard it in the previous day, hadn't discussed it, nothing.
Do you wake up with songs in your head on a regular basis? What song was in your head this morning? Comment below, I'd love to hear from you!
