When did I decide to Stay on Steemit

Tell us about the moment that you decided that it was worth sticking around and putting in the work on Steemit.

I can answer this question in one sentence: The minute I got here.

Here is why. I found out about this platform from a podcast listener of ours who shared in our Facebook group that her son had told her about this new social media platform where you can earn cryptocurrency. So, from a friend of a friend of a friend type of thing.

My friend and podcasting cohost at the time was doing very well with her crypto investments, but I just couldn't justify using any of our money to put into an investment which might dissolve into nothing. But since I was already spending time on Social Media to promote the podcast, I figured why not add another venue to the mix.

Lucky for me, I was right at that time staying at my son's for a night of babysitting and had my laptop with me and all my unfinished projects patiently waiting for me at home. So, I followed the link to see what this new platform was all about. The next morning, I was on. And it felt like I was back on Tsu.

Tsu was a social media platform which paid for posting (in US $) and it was filled with alternative-minded people. As a matter of fact, I met my podcasting partner there and so many other cool people I am still in touch with. Guess what? As I was browsing around, I discovered one familiar name after another! And a couple of hashtags related to Tsu, like #Tsufamily and #Tsuvian.

I was happy!!! I had found my tribe again!

But now, I need to be honest. I cannot say for sure that I would have stayed if the payouts of my posts were still like in the beginning. Like zero, or just a bit above. I think I would be here, but maybe a couple of times a week for a little bit.

As I mentioned, I did want to have some cryptocurrency in my life and the only way to get that was through my labor. I set out to promote the podcast but realized pretty quickly that this platform works differently from the others out there. Also, my post payouts were low. Very, very low.

I studied and read countless posts. And I asked questions. Lots and lots of questions. Slowly, I learned about voting power, how to format a post and so much more. I also learned about contests and started to enter as many as I could. One of them was MAP which is run by @rycharde. Being part of that introduced me to discord and to a community dedicated to helping newbies like me. I also won a few delegations and got a taste for having more voting power. MAP is still going strong and worthy of support.

One of the best, and by far the most profitable contest for me, was the papa-pepper selfie contest. So many of us participating became friends and we are still following each other. The winnings were substantial and really helped me to move along on the platform. Also, papa-pepper and other larger accounts who are helpful to minnows kept writing about how they started with posts earning nothing - and they kept going and going and going to their present success.

That seemed like a good plan to emulate and little by little, my posts went from 0.02 to 0.20 to now often 2.00.

Another factor for really committing to the platform was @taskmaster4450. In the early days, @taskmaster4450 decided to adopt me and help me to reach 1000 SP. That was such a cool thing to do and he is working with another little redfish right now.

Once I started the freewrite and build that into a community, there was no looking back. We are at day 210, and that means, that I posted for that many days every single day. Here are my stats.

In conclusion, I do think that it is a combination of all of the above which have made me deeply committed to this platform. But each one is, in a sense, the result of being active and seeking out opportunities. I think that the more you do on here, the more you are successful, and the more you want to stay.
