Steemit in 5 Years from Now

May 30 Days Writing Challenge - Day Nine: Where Do You See Steemit In 5 Years? Join in here
Steemit in 5 Years - Tech
Since I am a completely non-tech person - at least as far as the hardware and programming side of computers is concerned, all I can do is make assumptions.
But having lived for a while on the planet and seen how fast the developments in the tech field have moved, I am sure that we are going to have a tech solution to record the ever-increasing amount of data in a timely manner.
Whatever setup the witnesses have right now will probably be obsolete. Something smaller, faster, and better will replace it. What that will look like, I have no idea. But in the days when computers took up several rooms the idea of storing tons of data on a tiny chip in a phone was probably not even conceivable.
So it is with a tech solution we will need in the future -but it will happen.
Steemit User Experience
In 5 years, Steemit will be a household name like Facebook is today. Facebook will try to utilize blockchain technology, but I highly doubt that they are going to add the monetary incentive to the platform. If they do, they will be overrun with scammers.
Steemit, on the other hand, is figuring out now how to get rid of scam and phishing and will have found a solution to make it a safe experience.
Also, the trouble newcomers are facing now to understand the platform will be solved since the developers are going to seek to understand the non-tech users' experience and develop apps to address the need for ease.
That is smart business sense, without users, a product and in this case, a platform is useless.
In 5 years, Steemit will be easy to use, offer lots of options to conduct business that is profitable for all parties involved.
Steemit will be way beyond a social media platform and include learning communities, a trade section and much more.
I see a bright future with users from all over the world being able to make a living using the Steemit platform.

I believe the same.
good!! WE are on the same page :)
It is going to be amazing to really see steemit be the main source of income for some people.
It will really create a much needed impact.
I think for some people, it already is. And we can build it to make Steem and SBD meaningful.
If blockchain is really as revolutionary as people think it is (and I agree it definitely looks like it's going that way), then there's going to be one or more blockchain blogging platforms that are going to win the arms race. Steemit has a major advantage in being one of the first (if not the first?). I don't know from a technical and economic perspective how many users Steemit can accommodate at a time. There's a bottleneck when it comes to new account creation right now and Steemit is not going to win that race at its current size. But it certainly has the potential to if the platform continues to evolve and moves past beta.
It is true that the new account creating takes a bit - unless you are already here and can delegate. Then it is very fast to create a new account.
There are already a lot of application which are working on this blockchain - that is a major advantage.
I just mean how long it takes to actually create an account on here and get it approved. It took me about 48 hours to get through the approval process in January but I've heard from friends that it takes about 2 weeks now, at which point most people just forget about it and move onto something else. We need faster approval times or some way to automate it if we're going to create any growth on here.
I know that is what you meant. But you could open an account in seconds through steem connect and hand it over to your friends. But then, they wouldn't get the initial delegation new accounts get. So, if you can delegate to give them some bandwidth, they can be on in less than a minute.
Hear here sweets.
😄 👍
I sure hope so. That would be something. Thanks @mariannewest fo your Post
We can make it happen. One strategy is to share what we are doing here - it is so easy to share to Facebook and twitter...
I admire your optimism, and I really hope its true. I've been saying for years that something like Steemit ought to exist, that people should be getting some share of the reward that comes from sharing data, and enriching the online space. Instead of signing it over without even realising to huge multinational companies. Little did I know such a thing already existed, albeit in this Beta format!
Having said that, I only joined in March, and I haven't forgotten the long wait in between signing up and getting my confirmation email. About 6 weeks in total. If Steemit is going to become a household name - which I think it definitely has the potential for - it has to solve the dual problem of A) getting new users in the door quickly, before they lose interest, and B) handling the traffic that those new users will heap on an already loaded system.
True. When I joined, I was in the next day. 6 weeks would be very frustrating. And yes, the increased traffic might be a problem - I don't know enough about the tech side to know the solution. I do know that a lot of people who are investors and business owners are on here and believe in the platform...
That is a very good vision of the future and I foresee a lot of wonderful upgrades and innovations coming our way soon to help all of this come to fruition! 👍 👏
yay!! Let's help to make this happen!!
Hello @mariannewest, What a beautiful competition, thank you
You are welcome, but I didn't start this - just participating :)
Steemit in 5 years, will still be promising how SMT's will be so great one day soon and the site will still barely run!
You are such an optimist!!!! 🤪
