The Parliament Vienna Tour! "Money For Education, Not For Banks/Geld Für Bildung Statt Für Banken"

in #steemit-austria7 years ago (edited)

It was an ice-cold night, strolling around the "Inner City" of Vienna, passing by our majestic Parliament and a demonstration of a few young citizen who impressed me with their message.

My tour ended up at one of the most beautiful christmas markets "Am Spittelberg", every tourist should visit in winter from Nov.16th -Dec.23rd.

The Austrian Parliament is the heart of a democratic system and is here to represent the interests of all citizen!

Democracy is precious but also means a lot of work! Read more HERE.

I am native Viennese and quite surprised that I never went inside. I decided this evening that I should take a tour one day to see the probably fascinating buildings interior.

I was told that such walk through the building will bring you back to the Ancient Greece.

The Parliament was built from 1874 to 1883 in a Greek-Roman style, created and designed like a temple by the Architect Theophil Hansen.

This time I show you a few photos from the exterior. I mostly write those kind of articles for my airbnb guests. In this way I just forward those links and don't need to explain whats best to do for their holiday in Vienna.

This is the "Pallas Athene" Statue, Die Maennergleiche,  in-front of one of the most important buildings at the famous 5.3 km long "Wiener Ringstraße".

Read about the history HERE

The history of Austrian parliamentarianism is strongly connected to the eventful history of Austria. While the MEPs' main task during the multi-ethnical Habsburg Monarchy was to represent Austria's different various ethnic groups, parliament faced all new challenges in the time of the First Republic. It was only in the time of the Second Republic that stable parliamentarianism made its way.- Source

The Building and Guided Tours At The Parliament in Vienna/Wien.

The building is 151 m long and 132 m wide.

The Parliament is not only the very heart of political activity. The historic Parliament Building breathes history and stories, art and noble architecture. Visitors can get a lively impression of how and where politicians are at work – as guests watching the debates in the National and Federal Councils and in some committees, or through guided tours, catering for diverse interests that give you insights into the special features of the Parliament Building and Palais Epstein.- Source

The construction costs would be today approx. 200 million Euro, the biggest of the 1.600 rooms sizes about 1000 m² and your walkway through all rooms would be approx. 13 km. Nice work out!

Some pictures I took last year.

Hmmmmm......Thats another black&blue story of Austria.......

Oh yeah, your parliament is actually like from Greece and you are right, as everywhere in front of parliaments all the time demonstrations! Thank you @mammasitta

Glad to know that you looked into the facts :) such a nice picture. I can't wait to walk that 13km tour and check out the interior.

I hope you will see a lot of interesting things for this way :)

@mammasitta, I have studied before Greece history from our class lessons. (Those days) Most popular architectures was there many Europe countries. No doubt. If peoples have some doubt Visit and see their ancient buildings.
As you know, I don't like to talk about democracy or political scenes under the my country's less politicians.
However I heard before Austria was a born of Opera. Am I correct? If am wrong please correct me. Austria has own music stylish. I have hear somethings about Austria from one of decent citizen when he come to my country recently. He talked with me very well and told about more things. Somethings never understood bcoz language barrier.

You sharing nice captures of Austria Parliament. Its delightful at night. I'll check it more from source.
Resteemed.
