Reflection
"Everything is permitted to me" ... surely the Christians of the Corinth community would have heard this phrase from the mouth of Paul of Tarsus himself, but apparently it was misunderstood and used to justify and tolerate sexual immorality, an example of this is the scandalous case that reaches the ears of Paul patent in 1 Corinthians 5, 1 "In fact there is talk of sexual immorality among you, and of a case such that it does not even occur among pagans: one of you lives with your own stepmother." In this state of affairs Paul reiterates in 1 Cor 6:12 "everything is permitted to us", and adds, but not everything is convenient for us, plus what does this mean? Being subjects provided with the power of the will, it is true that we can do what we please but not everything that we please is convenient for us, for example, in a free act of the will I decide to drink until I get drunk while driving, that is something that I can do but it does not suit me, taking drugs is something I can do but it does not suit me, being unfaithful to my partner is something I can do but it does not suit me, last but not least, I can sin if I decide to do it but definitely not the precepts of God should be lacking. Although everything is allowed, immoral acts, sin, hatred, revenge, greed and excesses of all kinds do not suit us because the consequences are dire and terribly painful, drinking excessively while driving will only take you to the hospital or to the morgue, getting high will only ruin your life and will subject you to the most terrible slavery, infidelity always ends in unhappiness; pain, sadness, shame and crying. Let's take a good look at what is convenient for us, lest we end up being slaves of money, substances, passions or people by doing everything we please. If we are going to become slaves, let it be Christ's who is in whom true freedom lies and we are also allowed to follow him and it is definitely convenient for us to love him. May we never lack the inspiration, guidance, and love of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Amen.

12 Todo me está permitido, pero no todo me conviene. Todo me está permitido, pero no me haré esclavo de nada.
Reflexión
"Todo me está permitido"... seguramente los cristianos de la comunidad de Corinto habrían escuchado de la boca del mismo Pablo de Tarso esta frase pero al parecer fue mal entendida y usada para justificar y tolerar la inmoralidad sexual, muestra de ello es el escandaloso caso que llega a oídos de Pablo patente en 1 Corintios 5, 1 "De hecho se habla de inmoralidad sexual entre ustedes, y de un caso tal que ni siquiera se da entre los paganos: uno de ustedes convive con su propia madrastra". En este estado de las cosas Pablo reitera en 1 Cor 6, 12 "todo nos está permitido", y agrega, pero no todo nos conviene, más ¿Qué quiere decir esto? Al ser sujetos provistos del poder de la voluntad, es verdad que podemos hacer lo que nos plazca pero no todo lo que nos plazca nos conviene, por ejemplo, en un acto libre de la voluntad decido beber hasta emborracharme mientras manejo, eso es algo que puedo hacer pero no me conviene, consumir drogas es algo que puedo hacer pero no me conviene, serle infiel a mi pareja es algo que puedo hacer pero no me conviene, por último y no menos importante, puedo pecar si decido hacerlo pero definitivamente no me conviene faltar los preceptos de Dios. Aunque todo nos esté permitido, los actos inmorales, el pecado, el odio, la venganza, la codicia y los excesos de todo tipo no nos convienen porque las consecuencias son nefastas y terriblemente dolorosas, beber en exceso mientras se maneja sólo te llevará al hospital o a la morgue, drogarte sólo arruinará tu vida y te someterá a la mas terrible esclavitud, la infidelidad siempre termina en infelicidad; dolor, tristeza, vergüenza y llanto. Miremos bien lo que nos conviene no vaya a ser que por hacer todo lo que nos plazca terminemos siendo esclavos del dinero, de sustancias, de las pasiones o de personas. Si nos vamos a hacer esclavos, que sea de Cristo que es en quién yace la verdadera libertad y además nos es permitido seguirle y definitivamente nos conviene amarle. Que no nos falte nunca en nuestras vidas la inspiración, la guía y el amor del Espíritu Santo. Amén.
