For we did not follow cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and [m]coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. Reflection

This testimony and clarification of Peter is of enormous wealth for our faith, and it is that it is not based on fables or theological constructions of the evangelists as some wise scholars want us to believe, faith is based on the real and portentous sign of the resurrection of Christ (1 Corinthians 15:14), that is, in the sign that manifests to all the divine nature of Jesus. In the experience of the transfiguration (Lk 9, 28-36), Peter confirms what he already intuited (Lk 9, 20), Jesus is the Christ of God, that is, he confirms the divine nature of Jesus, a nature that would later become clear for all in the glorious sign of the resurrection. Let us trust in Jesus, let us listen to the words of Peter who was a direct witness, let us listen and believe in the testimony of the apostles and especially in the testimony of the martyrs who were able to give their own lives to death in order not to renounce the faith in Christ. Jesus Christ is risen. It is not a story or a symbol, it is true, it is a real fact! He truly rose!

En efecto, no hemos sacado de fábulas o de teorías inventadas lo que les hemos enseñado sobre el poder y la venida de Cristo Jesús, nuestro Señor. Con nuestros propios ojos hemos contemplado su majestad cuando recibió de Dios Padre gloria y honor. En efecto llegó sobre él la propia palabra de la gloriosa Majestad: «Este es mi Hijo muy querido, el que me agradó elegir.» Nosotros mismos escuchamos esa voz venida del cielo estando con él en el monte santo.

Reflexión

Este testimonio y aclaratoria de Pedro es de una riqueza enorme para nuestra fe, y es que esta no está basada en fábulas ni en construcciones teológicas de los evangelistas como algunos sesudos eruditos nos quieren hacer creer, la fe se fundamenta en el signo real y portentoso de la resurrección de Cristo (1 Corintios 15, 14), es decir, en el signo que manifiesta a todos la naturaleza divina de Jesús. En la experiencia de la transfiguración (Lc 9, 28-36), Pedro confirma lo que ya intuía (Lc 9, 20), Jesús es el Cristo de Dios, es decir, confirma la naturaleza divina de Jesús, naturaleza que luego quedaría patente para todos en el signo glorioso de la resurrección. Confiemos en Jesús, escuchemos las palabras de Pedro que fue testigo directo, escuchemos y creamos en el testimonio de los apóstoles y en especial en el testimonio de los mártires que fueron capaces de entregar sus propias vidas a la muerte con tal de no renunciar a la fe en Cristo. Jesucristo ha resucitado ¡No es un cuento ni un símbolo, es verdad, es un hecho real! ¡En verdad resucitó!
