Villans Bodybuilding Tips - Finding Motivation for the Gym

in #fitness7 years ago (edited)

Well finding motivation for the gym can be a constant battle.
There are some days where you wonder why the hell you bother, it can really take a toll on you when your training basically day in day out.
It can be very monotonous, it feels like all your doing is eating, working and training. It's also hard to find the time to do other activities you might enjoy.
Also lifting heavy weight day in day out really takes a toll on the body. Your body aches all the time.

So how do I get around these problems and keep going. Some people tell me I need to rest more often, but when I think about the evolution of the human race I think I don't. Many generation ago, there was no such thing as a day off.
We were worked for 18 hours a day, and day in day out. The human body can take some serious punishment.
Now don't get me wrong a rest day here and there is not a bad thing, but training for 3 days and then having a day off is just not how I roll.

☠️ Finding Motivation ☠️

Finding motivation is not really to difficult, for men you just need to look for those people who are highly motivational.
For me they are role models like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ronnie Coleman, Eddie Hall and a host of others.

Arnold

Arnie is one of those people who has inspired generations of people.
For bodybuilders most of us would love to be like him. He had a great physique and the story of where he came from to where he is now is truly inspirational.
When I'm not really in the mood for the gym but I need to get in there otherwise I won't, sometimes I will chuck on pumping iron while I'm eating dinner before the gym.
Pumping Iron always amps me up and really helps create the drive to get in the gym and lift weights.

Ronnie Coleman

Ronnie Coleman to me is another one of those highly motivational people.
Ronnie is the king of the olympia stage, who took body building to a whole new level. Now some people don't like the look of the mass monsters, but I think it's just the nature of men to want to be the biggest and strongest which is why body building has evolved this way. This is also why we have strong man competitions.
Sometimes when I'm finding it hard to find the motivation to lift heavy, I watch some of ronnie colemans youtube videos.
This is one video I like to put on now and then.

Eddie Hall

Eddie Hall to me is one of those strongmen who really motivates me.
The weight that the strongmen can move around is just incredible, and really motivates me to get in the gym.
Netflix has two really good strong man documentaries which I like to watch some times before getting in the gym.
Eddie inspires me to constantly keep pushing myself in the gym.

Now for women I can't say exactly how to find your motivation, lol it's a bit hard for me to. But you will surely have role models who are incredibly fit and can help to create that drive for you and push you to the limits.

Find your motivation and get to da gym.

I think motivation and dedication is all temporary. You have to love what you are doing, and in this case ...going to the gym. How long would you last if you went to violin practice over and over? If you don't enjoy it, forcing yourself is kind of pointless. Arnold couldn't wait to go to the gym, you will never beat a person that cant wait to go to the gym. So everyone that likes to work out, its not really dedication at all. I have worked out for 14 years non stop, and not a single day was something I didn't want to do. Yes it sucked sometimes because I hate cardio and shit, but just being at the gym is fun for me. I think we all like to do stuff, and thats what we become good at. Some people cant wait to go to the gym, some cant wait to go to work, or the zoo...soo thats life. But watching Ronnie smash some food and then some plates, gets me fired up for sure lol. Great post, keep it up! @muscleroast.com

Yeah good point @muscleroast.com and great comment.
If you don't enjoy it, then you surely won't stick with it.
But I find it's really common to go through phases with the gym, and as much as I love training sometimes you just get sick of the time it consumes, the same routine etc. I talk to most of the people in the gym(1000 members) and when I mention I haven't seen you for a while I always hear "yeah I just needed a break for a bit sometimes I get tired of it".

It's like anything, when you do it day in day out naturally the novelty will wear off. So driving that new car loses it's appeal. Seeing the same friend day in day out makes you not want to hang out with them as often etc. etc.

I find personally after about a month of consistent training I will have a day or two when the motivation levels really drop. Sometimes I just wanna play games, so I lose motivation.
This is where looking to others for motivation really helps.
I wish I could be motivated non stop, would be nice :) maybe this is where my past injuries come in to play and my passion is overwhelmed by pain and negativity for a bit

LOL I agree man! I get tired of the shit too..but you always go back, and you do need to watch these freaks lift weights once in a while (or pretty often) in order to get excited. Its gym porn LOL. Nothing wrong with recharging, eating like shit, and giving it a rest. But for the most part, if you like it, you will do it your whole life. I will never look like Ronnie, or the top natural guys, cause I dont want to put in that amount of work into it. Thats why we are all different, they want to, I don't. I love it enough to keep going back and seeing no gains over and over and over LOL.

Yeah I think that's the key is to have a break for a bit, but bounce back.
I never thought I would become a gym junkie, but after seeing my body change I can't help it now. Has become a huge passion for me and help me in so many ways.

I used to drink lots and eat fairly badly, but not anymore :)
now I might drink half a bottle of whiskey a year and I eat so much fruit and veg.

BTW I have followed you and welcome to steemit :)

Best gym motivation for men? Take a look at a lovely young lady and watch her look back at your body in disgust lol.

As always, I encourage you to give my profile a look (: I only post original stories and ideas and will humbly brag that people often take pleasure in reading them. Keep Steemin!

Haha yeah motivation only, never want to get too big. Though damn I get some attention from the ladies.
Lol was on the moto last night in a singlet sitting at traffic lights and watched a girl nearly run over a pedestrian. too busy looking at me :D
