내가 태어나기도 한참 전 50~60년대의 올드팝을 좋아하는데 나의 부모 세대 젊은 시절에서 대략 10~ 20년 정도 앞 시절이다. 이런 중저음 가수의 노래를 이 시기에 들으면 연말의 특유한 캐롤 분위기가 짙다. 차가워진 밤 공기에 분주한 사람들의 발걸음은 끝으로 향하는 그해의 의욕을 활발한 아쉬움으로 대신하려는 우울한 즐거움이라고 봐야 할까? 아무튼 차가워진 대기에 반동으로 작용하는 그런 이미지인데 한여름 밤의 늘어진 정열과는 반대되는 이 미묘한 맛을 즐기고 싶다.
