Day 35: 5 Minute Freewrite - Prompt: bittersweet
Hi Everyone!
This is my Day 35: 5 Minute Freewrite - Prompt: bittersweet

Holidays for me have become a bittersweet time.
As everyone grows older and moves in the world to live their life.
No more huge gatherings for me, just a table at a restaurant with three of us talking about times of old.
As I grow older I realize the Christmas's when there were 25-30 people all crammed into one space was something to be cherished for the rest of my life.
I am Thankful I have those memories to look back on as they made me a part of who I am today.
Your family is something you can not pick. For good or bad they are yours.
Something to complain about, something to love forever no matter what.
On this day of Thanksgiving in the USA, I AM thankful for being brought up in the loving, dysfunctional, family as I was.
Your family helps define your character in your later years, even if it's " I don't want to be like Aunt Vilma!" when I grow old.
So the learning that is done on Holidays while you are all crammed together in a room 8 sizes too small will help you grow in ways you never knew.
I have many things to be thankful for and Steemit and finding @mariannewest 's #freewrite is one of them!
Much Love,
Snook

In this writing there are so many sentences I could realte to myself and my family, even if we never celebrated Thanksgiving (but we do have something similar in April 25, Liberation Day)!
The one I prefer is :
Thank you for your writing, and if I don't sound intrusive, a virtual hug to drive away melancholy. :)
Thank you for being brave enough to comment on my post!! :D
@marcoriccardi , I will take that hug with a smile on my face. You are one special person to know it was what I needed.
and now I know why we get along. we have this in common :D
Reminds me that I need to thank someone but I forgot. Very nicely written snook :)
That is sweet. I never thought our family gatherings would end up as memories! I always thought it would be a thing. And then we moved, and other family members moved, and we are separated for the holidays. It won't ever be the same again. I'm glad we had a chance to grow up in a time when family still bothered to bother each other for the holidays!!
Great post! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you!!!! and yes, everyone moving away...........makes you miss the pain of family gatherings. I'm very happy I grew up when I did too!
So relatable! And growing older is a whole other ballgame.....
