A note to myself. Procrastination is a lot like....

Procrastination is a lot like....

I heard this quote once when I was in my mid-twenties and have never forgotten it as crass as it is. So a head's up if you are a delicate flower you may find this a little rude but what the hell, it's my page so be warned and read on at your own risk...

Procrastination is a lot like masturbation, it feels great at the time but in the end your only fucking yourself...

Now don't get me wrong I am not saying there is anything wrong with procrastination or masturbation.

As I am a master of procrastination. Take today for instant, I had a whole day off and I have a list a mile long of things to tidy up and complete prior to picking up our adopted son from Thailand in a few months, not to mention that I haven't posted in six days now and what did I do...

Get my hair done! Photo doesn't do it justice!

Which was number one on my list of things to do after the normal routine of get up, gym, eat etc. The problem is that I stopped after that, I never moved onto number two, three four or twenty-six. I brought junk food on the way home, which I am entitled too as why else would I get up at 5:30 am most mornings for the gym.

Life is about balance!

Turned on the TV to chill while eating and got sucked into a number of episodes of "Charmed", read a bit on the couch and then promptly fell asleep until after four pm. I try too not be too hard on myself when I don't get everything I want done, and celebrate the small wins as there were days when I couldn't even shower myself, joys of chronic illness.

So much to learn!

However, it's annoying that I so often feel paralysed the sheer volume of things to do that I start none and metaphorically speaking "fuck" myself. Is also annoying that I know if I just ticked off one or two of those things of my list I would feel a sense of achievement.

So despite my urge to continue to procrastinate I instead decided to write about it and kickstart the day even as the night rolls in as who needs sleep anyway!

Thanks for stopping by to read my note to self. I feel better knowing I have posted and now have the motivation to continue with the online bills, overdue shopping and dinner!

Never heard procrastination and masterbation compared like that...lol

That extra TV, game on your tablet, or whatever else that keeps you from your goals isn't achieving anything long term. Worse as they say an object at rest will stay at rest, so once you plant yourself on the couch you are very likely to stay planted procrastinating.

Yes I tend to noticed that if I can get myself up and out the day starts and stays much more productive..

haha love the quote :)

Whenever I'm feeling overwhelmed by my list of to-do's, I re-write the list with at least two or three things (#1, 2, & 3) that I've already done. Then I promptly and boldly scratch them off to make me feel like I have accomplished something. Suddenly, it all doesn't seem that bad.

Head games, I know, but it works for me to kick my ass into gear :)

And truthfully, you'll be a busy mom for the next 18+ years, so just allow yourself some lazy days if you want them!

Congratulations on your fundraising "drop" yesterday too!!

Haha I love it. I am a list person when I get to overwhelmed with it all. There is no better feeling than scrubbing off the done things. I never thought of adding things i have already done at the start but i have been known to add a thing ive done after the fact to the end of the list to scratch it out and feel some accomplishment lol. What ever works I say. The mum thing will be interesting, think I need a nap thinking about it, lol.

haha I've done the "add it to the bottom after the fact" too...You're right, whatever works!

It's too bad you can't nap like crazy now to fill up the nap'ometer so you have some in reserve when you get your little bundle of joy!! I'm so excited for you two; a new life...so amazing! Congratulations again ;)

You got it done. I guess I also motivated you in my little way not to procrastinate. Funny but nice post!

That is pretty funny. I am a big fan of procrastination. I feel like I do some of my best work under pressure. At least you were able to check one of the things off your list. Sometimes you just need that day to kick back and not stress about anything though. I try to make sure my wife gets those kinds of days frequently! Thanks for sharing your post. Just remember there is always tomorrow...

Thank you. Yes I tell myself that often. Tomorrow is another day. You sould like a good hubby. I also tend to get shit done when under pressure. I was always a study cramming kinda girl so life is following suit. Lol. Biggest problem i have atm is no eta on anything. We are waiting for a phone call to give us details. So its all up in the air so no date to cram too...

I was going to say I understand, but I don't. I have friends that have been in a similar situation though so I will say I empathize with you. Good luck with everything!

Hi, thx for dropping by at my blog. It is good to see that you changed your upvote strategy and increased it above the dust threshold!
Keep it going!

Haha yes it annoyed me it went ko where and the price of steem is good enough my votes worth a little more. Fingers crossed it keeps on this trend.

Hahahah you are always so funny @imsideoutlet, which is why I love reading your posts. No matter what it is, including procrastination, you can be so light hearted about it. Well, I must applaud you for writing this, because you broke the procrastination cycle, congrats!!! pat on the shoulder

Hey gorgeous hair colour! 😍

Thank you. I like to think im pretty funny. My hubby doesn't think so but what does he know. Lol...

I always love a fresh hair do too. We cut it shorter than I normally would but im loving the lightness of it.

You may be pretty good at procrastination, but I'm the pro from Dover. I've got a large number of years of practice on you...

I have a whiteboard just off to my left. I see it a couple of hundred times a day. Every morning (unless I put it off) I write 3 items on the board, then take them off when they are done. I've been doing it for years, and there is no doubt it has helped.

Thanks for a wonderful post. I really appreciate it.

Haha sincerely I can't stop laughing

procrastination is like masturbation

Yeah procrastination is a bad thing. eventhough you said you're a master of it but am sure you're fighting against it which is not easy
Thank you for sharing @insideoutlet

I win some days, I lose others. But becoming aware is the first step to stopping it. Im glad i could make you laugh.

Hi happy to see you posting again :) Yeah I procrastinate all the time. I have 4 piles of laundry waiting.......I hate laundry :(

Thank you. Need to do another one about the abseil and zip line off the building yesterday but work first today.

Four loads of washing. Not sure ive ever had that many waiting but given currently there is only two of us I think thats about to change. May also help that we never wear much clothes of any when at home lol.

YES, I really want to see the pics :)

We use to have maybe 2 to 3 per week before baby. The older kids wash their own. Now with the baby, we have 3 to 4 every few days. He is drooling now and the spit up is still going on, so he gets wet a lot. Plus, the poop blasting out of the diaper is quite messy. You have a lot to look forward too :) It all goes away when they look up, see you and bust out into a great big smile. The best thing ever was seeing you, it's awesome.

Wow, that sounds like David. We really can't with teenagers in the house and even if we didn't I wouldn't. Never felt comfortable. LOL

Haha yes it's not something I thought id ever get used too. Especially since i spent so long hating on my self and my body post surgery. But lucky for me @shai-hulud found a way though to me and helped me find that confidence again. Not that I was a nudist before that lol. Its all post husband but even at kids skinny dipping was an ofter in the dam or a secluded beach was common right up until I was thirteen. Then they family split and somehow not as appropriate with a step dad.

People ask us will we wear clothes now we have a baby coming . But by the sounds of the amount of drool and poop coming out of them, it may be safer to stay naked and close to the shower lol... save on the washing. Lmao...

Yeah, I never felt confident and now post baby, I really don't. I am hoping for a tummy tuck in my future to get my pre baby stomach back ;) It is great that he has done that for you :) That is really special :)

Nope even as a kid I would never have done it. I had no self esteem at all.

Yes it would, there is a lot. Plus I don't know if you have different style bottles there but here they leak and that covers them too. Showers are far between. In the beginning I would go 2 to 3 days without one. Now I have to wait until he's asleep. He cries if I leave the room.

That is a bonus of adoption. No baby belly to be rid of post giving birth. Although that is not the bonus my hubby thinks of lol...

I haven't gotten rid of the one from Snow yet, lol. Yeah, David tells me all the time not to worry about it. I want to get rid of it for me. I would like to wear my clothes again and look like I use too.

You guys are so cute :)

hahaha that quote.. I am sure I won't forget it either from now on!
