Waoo! It's my pleasure to welcome you to another Meet Our Steem Witnesses - A weekly show For All Steemians.

It's a new week and I hope you all are enjoying the week already? Last week I posted my interview with @quochuy one of the steem witnesses and it not a new thing to us that we all have 30 votes to cast for any steemit witness of our choice and I will say this is the most important 30 votes you will ever cast on this platform.

Looking at things here, the on going dip as affected the atmosphere here on Steem platform but I hope that the RockDB and SMTs would bring good impact to the Steem project. To those that might have never heard of Meet Our Steem Witnesses before, here is a recap here

For some months now, I have been interviewing some witnesses and it has been an amazing and remarkable experience presenting my their chat here for steemians to read and see what they have been up to.

Here are the links to my previous interview

So today, I will be posting my interview with @steemstem

So stay tuned, follow up and learn from our witnesses.Logopit_1551039043408.jpg

When and How did you discover Steem(it)?

@justtryme90: Back in may of 2016 I was reading some posts in reddit/r/cryptocurrency where I stumbled upon people talking about a crypto-based reddit alternative. I remembered reading about this on bitcointalk prior to its release and I was curious about it now that it was finally up and running. So I signed up on steemit and the rest is history!

@lemouth: I discovered Steem through one of the early adopters, @cryptoctopus, who introduced my wife (@lamouthe) and I to the platform. I then immediately jumped into the science tag and as above, the rest is history ;)

In simple term, what is it that witnesses do?

Witnesses process transactions and assemble the newly formed pieces of the blockchain. In doing this they are responsible for maintaining the stability of the network, which is necessary for the growth of value and supporting Steem-blockchain-based projects.

What is your purpose and aim of joining the Steem Witnesses?

Our witness (@stem.witness) serves as a mechanism for the SteemSTEM project as a whole to give back to the STEEM chain upon which we build and grow. We look to use our witness to further our goals of building a new science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) communication platform running on Steem. We feel that scientific communication is inherently valuable, and would like to position Steem to be a hub for that sort of information transfer as both we and the blockchain grow.

Why is it that Witnesses are not being paid equally because, looking at it some are already dropping out which suppose not to be?

We don't know. We will continue to work hard.

What are your thoughts on the price of Steem and SBD over the last one month?

Both have been fairly stable over the past 30 days. We (of course) would like to see a return to higher STEEM prices, however that is determined by a multitude of factors. Some of those factors (developing blockchain value, growing userbase, etc.) are within our control. While others (total sentiment on Blockchains and on Bitcoin in particular) are not. We must continue to do what we can to build value for Steem, and we feel that SteemSTEM has a significant role to play in that regard.

What's your opinion on the recent Steemit, Inc.’s Managing Director in person of @elipowell?

We had very limited interactions with her so far (some exchanges prior to Steemfest 3) and she has not held her position for very long. As a result we hold no opinion (for now), wish her the best and hope for great things in the future.

What changes would you like to see more on Steemit?

Our concern is not so much 'Steemit' as it is 'Steem'. Steem is often mistakenly used interchangably with Steemit. Thus, from our perspective the more emphasis on what Steem is and is capable of, and the less emphasis on any single entry-point to the blockchain, the better.

Will SMTs support the building of real life enterprises and business on the blockchain?

Yes, we think they will help. They should enable unique "mini-economies" to form as specialized tokens derive value from the applications which they service. As all of these SMT's will be a part of the broader Steem ecosystem, they in turn will generate some long-term value for Steem holders, and result in a more vibrant economy as a whole.

Looking at the atmosphere here on Steemit, a lot has changed. Can you tell us what you have been doing to tell non-steemians out there about Steemit?

Working on increasing our outreach, twitter, facebook, supporting others promoting Steem/SteemSTEM Content. Better dissemination of the content created by members of our community will result in increased eyes on Steem/Steemit/SteemSTEM.io.

There is no gainsaying that the drop in the price of Steem and SBD has affected a lot of steemians and some are not active like people. What do you think should be done to boom the price of steem and even SBD?

Focus not on short term boom and bust cycles, but rather on generating long term sustained value generating mechanisms. People will return when there is more going on to be excited about. The groundwork is being laid by a multitude of different groups across the blockchain and we feel that it is only a matter of time before things pick up significantly.

What do you think the steem community should do to restore people's confidence in this project because looking at this project from my own view a lot have already losing hope in this project?

The community should focus on the positives. Focus on what is being developed, focus on the future. Point out what people have to be excited about, rather than obsessing over the daily price of STEEM. A more positive, forward looking outlook will result in people staying hopeful!

Do you think if businesses is attach to steemit, like allowing ads to be displayed. Will that bring more value to steem. Because presently we only have content creator and the curators. What do you think?

Yes. We have been vocal supporters of utilizing ad revenue to fund project functioning and to help relieve some of the need to sell STEEM for that purpose. It will only have a positive effect overall on the value of STEEM.

What are the things you would love to see on steemit and what are those things you would like to remove if you have the power to do so?

We would like Steemit, as an interface, to be much more flexible and functional. For example, rather than have a stream of content for which you have to use an infinite scroll to reach older content, profiles should be able to organise their content how they see fit, highlight & pin favourites and most popular posts, spruce up their page and make a name for themselves.

Do you think Steem(it) has the chance to overcome its growing pains and become the next big social media site?

It would be fantastic if it did. We would be absolutely thrilled!

Why is there fluctuation in the post-payout system?

Post payouts are relative to the value of STEEM, any fluctuations are due to changes in the underlying value of the asset.

How do you keep balance between being a witness and other commitments?

With great difficulty! But seriously, by staying organized and focusing on one task at a time. We are scientific professionals with demanding jobs, however we see the value and potential of Steem and as such are dedicated to our work here as well.

What should steemians expect from you in the future?

Continued development of https://www.steemstem.io, expansion of our open source art commissioning service, expanded recruitment of STEM professionals into the SteemSTEM community, and more eyes on Steem due to high quality STEM content, highlighted by our curation work. Of course there are additional plans which will remain undisclosed at this point, stay tuned!

Your advice to Steemians in general?

Start asking the question, what can I do with my Steem Power, to help develop projects with the potential to generate revenue for me? Don't just expect others to do the work and make Steem a success. Get out there and start helping in any way you can. Even if that way is just delegating to a promising project (like @steemstem!)

If you could only vote for one witness (not yourself) who would it be and why?

There are too many other witnesses working tirelessly for the betterment of Steem. It is impossible to choose only one.

What would you like to do if you had no responsibilities/societal expectations to fulfill?

@justtryme90: Spend more time in lab, trying to understand things which I find fascinating rather than things other people do. (Sorry, Scientists love science!)

@lemouth: getting rid of all my administrative tasks is a dream (easily half of my work consists of these tasks). I could do more research, contribute more to my domain of expertise, have more time to think about designing new projects, etc. Also, I would like to spend more time in discussing particle physics with non-scientists, trying to share why this epoch is exciting from my perspective.
