Project Details
Node.js is an open-source, cross-platform JavaScript run-time environment that executes JavaScript code outside of a browser.
Node.js came into existence when the original developers of JavaScript extended it from something you could only run in the browser to something you could run on your machine as a standalone application.
In simple words, it's an open source execution environment for developing web applications, which is event-based, it uses the V8 engine to provide an execution environment that compiles and executes JavaScript at a higher speed. It is possible to run Node.js without any restriction on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.
It should be noted that it is NOT a server language, this means that it executes code, so it could be understood as an interpreter.
Contribution Specifications
Node.js is currently being translated into 33 languages. I´m contributing to translate it into the Spanish language. So far, we have managed to translate 41% of the project.
Translation Overview
ChangeLog_V8.md
A Changelog is a record of all the notable changes made to a project, it usually includes change records such as new features or bug fixes. It includes all the changes historically, although it is intended that a Changelog does not include all the changes, but rather it contains a list of notable changes ordered chronologically for each version of a project.
For large projects, there are many people who work in systems with different ideas about design and different knowledge about standards. This leads to a totally different technique, and the more documented it is, the more people can work together.
I have finished translating the commits of version 8.0.0 and with this I finish with the folder CHANGELOG_V8. There were many things that I learned in the previous contributions made in this folder, and that will be useful for me to continue translating this project. Here are some examples of the commits translated in this last part and a brief description of them:
English:
3d2181c5f0 - test: run the addon tests last (Sebastian Van Sande) #12062
Spanish:
3d2181c5f0 - test: ejecutar las pruebas de complemento en último lugar (Sebastian Van Sande) #12062
Tests can be a problem if there is a bug in node that prevents the addon tests from running properly. When the addon tests fail for any reason, then none of the other tests are executed. Running the addon tests last fixes this.
English:
f8f46f9917 - url: change path parsing for non-special URLs (Daijiro Wachi) #12058
Spanish:
f8f46f9917 - url: cambiar el análisis de ruta para direcciones URL no especiales (Daijiro Wachi) #12058
This changes to the way path parsing for non-special URLs. It allows paths to be empty for non-special URLs and also takes that into account when serializing.
English:
b610a4db1c - url: enforce valid UTF-8 in WHATWG parser (Timothy Gu) #11436
Spanish:
b610a4db1c - url: exigir UTF-8 válido en el analizador de WHATWG (Timothy Gu) #11436
This commit implements the Web IDL USVString conversion, which mandates all unpaired Unicode surrogates be turned into U+FFFD replacement character. It also disallows Symbols to be used as USVString per specification.
