Track your original content through the steemography hashtag (drwom-ography: 1/74 days)
By using #steemography as your main tag, combined with '[your steemit id]-ography' as your second tag, you can effectively catalogue your original steemit work over time.
Creating and updating a bibliography (a catalogue) of your original works, and posting it using #steemography as your main tag, and hash [your steemit id]-ography as your second tag (for example, my user name is @drwom so #drwom-ography), provides a great mechanism for us all to track - and importantly catalogue - our original content over time (check the tags to this post to see how it works).
If we are reasonably diligent with this process, and update it regularly (an updated steemography will simply reference the original steemography and add the original material posted after the publication of the original steemography) we will be able to easily find and refer to our original #steemit content in the weeks and years to come without having to scroll through our blog pages.
But importantly, this can (and will if we all use it) become a useful reference for all steemians, enabling the steem community to easily find each others back-catalogues and (what we at least may consider to be) our important work.

There are loads of awesome, and I mean awesome, contributions on steemit, but I notice that apart from the comments section, you can't respond or build on the ideas within. This is especially problematic because of the imposed 7 day half-life given to each story under the Steemit rules. I am not complaining about this, to the contrary. However all this great material gets buried under the weight and churn of new material coming up behind...
If you read my post, you'll see that my original idea was to change the blockchain itself to enable a referencing system. But in the absence of this (and it could be impossible - I'm no techy, and I wouldn't really know), utilising the existing system will work - if everyone jumps on board. If not, well, it'll work for me.

I think steemography would get real cluttered real quick with a few hundred/thousand/million people all using it every day XD The -ography thing is not a bad idea working within steemit's limitations. There's a lot of things that could be solved by filters, search and possibly blocks. I don't know if being on a blockchain makes those things more difficult than they would be on a "normal" blog :)

I'll get back to the drawing board I guess - although steemography might work by subject area only - or within a smaller timeframe (kind of once a month) to make posts less data dense...
I really want to find a way to do something to "knot" or track or tie or at least catalogue the various bits of awesome happening on steemit (ala https://steemit.com/steemit/@drwom/the-need-for-story-chains-on-steemit-revisited) - and find a way soon, before the thousands, or millions are on board. It will become a big issue for users sooner or later.
Scrolling through the blog list just doesn't work for me, and google search seems to throw up pretty random results (i.e. not by subject or date) - although maybe there's a work-around that way.

Trust me it already is a big issue, when I do manage to get through my feed (which I haven't been managing to do lately, applying some manual filters atm XD) there are always feature idea/request posts being thrown out there by people who have been here just long enough to realise that there are things they would love to have on the site and not long enough to realise that this has been a long running problem (I haven't been here that long in the grand scheme either but I imagine the people from last year would only have been slightly more patient because the site was more obviously in beta then than it is now).
Most of the ideas basically boil down to a potentially complex filter system. If something doesn't happen on one of the front ends I'm using "soon" (I kind of switch between busy and steemit because neither of them do quite what I want but together getting there is almost good enough, and soon could be anywhere from tomorrow to sometime in the next decade) I am more and more seriously considering just writing a front end with those filters though I might need to drag in someone that can actually work out the back end as I've a) never dealth with blockchains and b) I'm a front end dev with back end skills acquired under immense duress XD
