SOS Daily News : news about the State of Steem @ 6 January 2019
A very quiet day on Steem...
But still some interesting bits and bobs popping up here and there.
This Thursday sees the return of the State of Steem Forums, 8pm - 11pm UTC on MSP Waves.
This will be Forum #3 covering DApps, Apps and Devs.
If you are a founder, developer or help run a DApp or App and would like to speak on the forum let me know.
DLux - the alternative SMT?
This runs off the edge of my technical understanding but @disregardfiat is doing some interesting work with DLux.
@disregardfiat is putting this forward, I believe, as an alternative to Steemit Inc's long overdue Smart Media Token.
@shredz7 has also put out a useful post on how Engine, his soft consensus system, works.
Both Engine and DLux use @shredz7's steem-state.
@shredz7 and @disregardfiat will be coming along to this Thursday's State of Steem Forum if you would like to find out more about their projects.
DTube mark 2?
@vaultec is concerned that DTube only stores videos for around 30 days before deletion.
He is offering an alternative model for DTube called 'Permanente'.
A fork of DTube has been made to explore and develop this...
It does appear to load way faster than DTube ... so I reckon @vaultec must be on to something.
Onwards and upwards for the Homesteaders Co-op
The Homesteaders Co-op founded by @sagescrub is a shining light in the world of SteemCommerce.
It has only been running a couple of months but it is already one of the leading ecommerce sites where you can purchase physical goods for STEEM or SBD.
The site now has 17 vendors across three continents selling over 120 different products.
To broaden the site's appeal it has now started taking payment in US dollars as well as STEEM and SBD.

Some great development ideas here. I really like the idea of Dtube Permanente, and it makes me wonder once again about the wisdom of the 7-day payout window. If posts could continue to earn Steem indefinitely, that might encourage people to produce more quality that they would want to retain. Maybe DLux and Permanente could work together to achieve this!
I'm going out on Thursday, so I'll miss the live broadcast unfortunately, but I think it would be an interesting topic for discussion.
I would agree re longer rewards encouraging better quality.
I will put out a recording of the forum.

My excitement level is starting to creep off the normal scale.
