Scotland Roundtrip XIV - The Greyfriars Kirkyard [EN/DE]

We arrived in Edinburgh, where we started and where our journey came to an end. Edinburgh is a pretty city, with narrow streets, beautiful buildings and a tourist crowded castle. But instead of showing you these things, I´ll show you another kind of beauty. Remember my dark side? Good, because now I want to introduce you to the Greyfriar´s Kirkyard, an old graveyard in the southern edge of the old town. People from Edinburgh are finding their final resting place there since the late 16th century [1].

Wir kamen in Edinburgh an, wo wir begonnen hatten und wo unsere Reise zu Ende ging. Edinburgh ist eine hübsche Stadt mit engen Gassen, schönen Gebäuden und einem von Touristen überlaufenen Schloss. Aber anstatt dieser Dinge möchte ich eine andere Art von Schönheit zeigen. Ihr erinnert euch an meine dunkle Seite? Gut, denn jetzt möchte ich euch den Greyfriar's Kirkyard vorstellen, einen alten Friedhof am südlichen Rand der Altstadt. An diesem Ort finden die Menschen von Edinburgh seit dem späten 16. Jahrhundert ihren Frieden [1].

We found a quiet place full of beautiful morbid statues. Even J. K. Rowling got inspiried by this place, when she spent her time here: The name of "Harry Potter´s" Tom Riddle is taken from an old gravestone. Can you find it?


Wir fanden einen ruhigen Ort voller schöner morbider Statuen vor. Sogar J. K. Rowling wurde von diesem Ort inspiriert, als sie ihre Zeit hier verbrachte: Der Name von "Harry Potter" Tom Riddle stammt von einem alten Grabstein. Könnt ihr ihn finden?
