Scotland Roundtrip XII - Mull & Ulva [EN/DE]

We left the Isle of Skye behind to move on to her little sister, Isle of Mull. Mull can be reached within a few minutes by ferry. A very sparsely populated area, full of lush greenery, an impressive coastline and white sandy beaches were waiting for us.

Die Isle of Skye ließen wir hinter uns, um zu ihrer kleinen Schwester, Isle of Mull weiterzuziehen. Nach Mull setzt man innerhalb von ein paar Minuten mit einer kleinen Fähre über. Uns erwartete eine sehr dünn besiedelte Gegend, voller saftigem Grün, einer beeindruckenden Küstenlinie und weißen Sandstränden.

On the island we had booked an overnight stay in a separate extension to a farm. On this farm lived a small family with children, a dog and many cattle and sheep. We were warmly welcomed and introduced in our little place, including fireplace and own kitchen. From there we explored - unfortunately only one day - the area.

Auf der Insel hatten wir eine Übernachtung in einem separaten Anbau an einem Bauernhof gebucht. Auf diesem Bauernhof lebte eine kleine Familie mit Kindern, Hund und vielen Rindern und Schafen. Wir wurden sehr herzlich empfangen und in unsere kleine Bleibe, inklusive Kamin und eigener Küche, eingeführt. Von dort aus erkundeten wir - leider nur einen Tag - die Gegend.

On this day we visited a very special place, the even smaller island of Ulva. This paradise is only 12km long and 4km wide and is great for a hike. In 1770 600 people lived on Ulva, in 2018 only 6 [1]. And again: Nature is overwhelming, as in many places in Scotland. You walk through mossy fairy forests, past cattle, ruins of the former settlement, meadows full of flowers and fern along a coastal path:

An diesem Tag besuchten wir einen ganz besonderen Ort, die noch kleinere Insel Ulva. Dieses Paradies ist nur 12 km lang und 4 km breit und eignet sich wunderbar für eine Wanderung. 1770 lebten 600 Menschen auf Ulva, 2018 nur noch 6 [1]. Die Natur ist wie an vielen Orten in Schottland auf ein neues überwältigend. Man läuft durch bemooste Feen-Wälder, vorbei an Rindern, Ruinen der früheren Besiedlung, Wiesen voller Blumen und Farn einen Küstenweg entlang:
