// Small NEWS // He Unlocks His Galaxy S10 with His Sister’s Face! (videos)
In front of the Galaxy S10, it is a simple photo sensor that takes care of facial recognition.

The sister of an S10’s owner has managed to access the smartphone of his brother by misleading the facial recognition of the device.
In recent days, several journalists and youtubers around the world have proved it with their video demonstration. By just showing a photo or a video of their face to the Galaxy S10, the latter unlocks, undermining the security notion of its facial recognition. This is not the first time a smartphone is so pinned for this kind of insecure system.
A new experiment shows the limits of these systems based on a simple 2D face recognition. Jane Manchun Wong, a well-known Hong Kong software engineer on Twitter, says she has successfully unlocked her brother's newly purchased Galaxy S10. The latter immediately deactivated the process.

The S10 also unlocked with closed eyes
Wong explains that the smartphone has also unlocked by showing his brother's face with his eyes closed. We know that 3D systems like Apple's Face ID consider this parameter to prevent any unlocking of the device if it is, for example, placed in front of its owner sleeping.
Face ID had however also been in default at the beginning. A ten-year-old had thus managed to access his mother's iPhone X. However, this was the Face ID learning system that had been charged, rather than the weakness of facial recognition.
Note that the Galaxy S10 has a fingerprint recognition system built into its OLED screen. It is considered by Samsung to be much more secure. (even if it's the minimum, is not it?...)
