The IT security company FireEye has observed since August 2018 an operation of influence on social networks defending Iran's interests. False accounts were posing as American politicians or the media.

The network is being dismantled

Alerted by FireEye, Facebook conducted its own investigation. This led him to withdraw 51 Facebook accounts, 36 pages, seven groups and three Instagram accounts.

Twitter, for its part, claims to have acted on its own initiative by deleting 2800 false accounts in May.

Earlier this month, we removed more than 2,800 inauthentic accounts originating in Iran. These are the accounts that FireEye, a private security firm, reported on today. We were not provided with this report or its findings. @yoyoel

Journalists, decision-makers, dissidents and influential American online personalities were targeted and even put under pressure to relay issues related to anti-Saudi, anti-Israeli and pro-Palestinian issues, or supporting the nuclear agreement.
